
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
An Early Interventionist delivers structured, developmentally appropriate early intervention services to infants and young children with developmental delays, disabilities, or those at risk, under the supervision of qualified clinicians. The role involves implementing individualised intervention programmes prescribed by Child&Family Psychologist, Clinical Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, or Rehabilitation Physicians, using evidence-based strategies to support communication, social-emotional, behavioural, sensory, and functional development.The Early Interventionist engages children through play-based and goal-directed activities, supports caregiver involvement, collects accurate progress data, and collaborates within a multidisciplinary team to deliver coordinated care, while practicing within a defined scope in compliance with organisational policies, safeguarding and child protection standards, and clinical governance requirements, and maintaining a safe, therapeutic, and child-centred environment.

Main Responsibilities
1. Implement individualised early intervention programmes as prescribed by the Child & Family Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist and/or Occupational Therapist.
2. Deliver structured, play-based, and developmentally appropriate intervention sessions addressing communication, social, behavioural, sensory, attention, play, and functional skills.
3. Apply approved evidence-based intervention strategies (e.g. ABA-informed, naturalistic developmental, functional skill approaches) in accordance with the child’s intervention plan.
4. Carry out intervention activities consistently, accurately, and within approved clinical guidelines.
5. Support skill generalisation through caregiver coaching and guided participation during sessions.
6. Ensure continuous supervision of children and maintain a safe, therapeutic, and child-friendly environment at all times.
7. Participate in multidisciplinary developmental assessments and early intervention evaluations as required.
8. Collect, record, and maintain accurate session data, behavioural observations, and progress measures to support outcome monitoring.
9. Provide timely feedback and clinical observations to supervising clinicians to inform intervention review and modification.
10. Collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary team, including Clinical Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, and Rehabilitation Physicians, to ensure coordinated care.
11. Attend and contribute to case discussions, team meetings, and supervision sessions as scheduled.
12. Practice strictly within the defined scope of an Early Interventionist and promptly escalate issues beyond scope.
13. Adhere to organisational policies, safeguarding and child protection standards, infection control requirements, and confidentiality obligations.
14. Identify, manage, and promptly report incidents, injuries, safeguarding concerns, and near misses in accordance with governance procedures.
15. Manage caseloads and administrative responsibilities effectively, including punctual attendance, accurate documentation, case handovers, and professional communication with parents/caregivers within scope.
16. Participate in mandatory training, supervision, and continuous professional development, including periodic competency assessments, while contributing to early intervention service development, quality improvement, or programme enhancement.

Minimum Qualification
Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Special Education, Rehabilitation Sciences, or other related health or developmental disciplines.
