Position Title: Early Head Start Center Based Lead Teacher

Location: Early Head Start

• Provide a positive, safe, nurturing, healthy, developmentally appropriate classroom and outdoor environment for infants and toddlers.
• Implement Creative Curriculum for infant and toddlers in a center setting.
• Work effectively with individuals of diverse education, social economic and cultural backgrounds and those with special needs.
• Plan, prepare lesson plans, organize, and oversee a birth to three classroom.
• Conduct various screenings for children ages birth to age three when necessary.
• Perform basic health care procedures such as diapering, toileting, and feeding, etc.
• Prepare age-appropriate meals for children.
• Promote school readiness and set appropriate goals that address the five essential domains (social-emotional, cognition, perceptual motor and physical development, language/literacy and approaches to learning).
• Follow a consistent schedule, which includes small/large group experiences, choice time, music/movement, large/small motor activities, skill development, meals and effective transitions between activities.
• Encourage experimentation, exploration, problem-solving, cooperation, socialization, and ask open-ended questions, provide quality feedback and listen respectfully.
• Direct classroom activities and maintain appropriate discipline by redirecting and modeling.
• Prepare and maintain records, input data into the data system and do case management accurately and in a timely manner.
• Oversee and/or participate in meetings to discuss individual children.
• Provide families with connections and information on agencies and family assistance service beyond the scope of Early Head Start.
• Communicate with families in a positive manner on a regular basis.
• Maintain confidentiality at all times.
• Work with teacher assistant.
• Perform other duties such as answering the phone, cleaning the facility, etc.
• Be responsible for implementing Early Head Start, state and local regulations / policies and procedures.
• Be physically capable of lifting and supervising children at all times.
• Oversee maintenance, upkeep, inventory of classroom supplies, materials and equipment.
• Attend all necessary trainings, which at times will require traveling and overnight stays.
• Work non-traditional hours when necessary to meet the needs of the families.
• Conduct home visits; *at the beginning of the school year, *when a new child enrolls throughout the year, *at the end of the school year, *and a minimum of 2 visits per family per month during the months of June, July and August.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
• Willingness to work with Early Head Start Director and other Early Head Start Staff.

Qualifications:

• Preference will be given to candidates with at least an undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education.
• Applicant must have or be willing to be certified in infant and child CPR/First Aid/AED and have or get a food handlers card.
• Applicant must pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
• Applicant must complete and pass a physical.
• Applicant must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation to make home visits.

Effective Date: 2026-2027 School Year

Salary: Base Pay $45,375 212 days
