INTERNAL/EXTERNAL POSTING

JOB TITLE: Early Childhood Special Education Teacher

LOCATION: Madison Early Childhood Center

START DATE: August 17, 2026

SALARY: Per MEA Master Agreement

Madison District Public Schools is seeking a compassionate, collaborative, and student-centered Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) Teacher to provide high-quality instruction and specialized support to preschool-aged children with disabilities. The ideal candidate will create an engaging, inclusive learning environment that promotes each child's academic, social-emotional, communication, and developmental growth while working closely with families and multidisciplinary teams.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Possess a valid Michigan teaching certificate with an Early Childhood Special Education (ZS) endorsement or eligibility to obtain the endorsement
  • Knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, and special education compliance requirements
  • Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Experience working with preschool-aged children with diverse learning and developmental needs is preferred

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate, individualized instruction aligned with each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP).
  • Conduct ongoing assessments and monitor student progress to inform instructional decisions.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain compliant IEPs in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Collaborate with speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, school psychologists, social workers, and general education staff to support student success.
  • Foster positive relationships with families through regular communication and active participation in the IEP process.
  • Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment that supports positive behavior and social-emotional development.
  • Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies and interventions to meet the diverse needs of young learners.
  • Maintain accurate student records and complete required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Participate in professional learning, staff meetings, and district initiatives.
