TITLE: Early Childhood Instructional Coach

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must hold Delaware certification in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Special Education, or both.
  2. Master's Degree in Education preferred, with a focus on Early Childhood, Special Education, Instructional Leadership or other related field.
  3. Five or more years of successful teaching experience.
  4. Strong knowledge of child development, inclusive early childhood practices, and evidence-based instructional strategies for children birth to kindergarten entry
  5. Ability to coach, model, and build the knowledge and skills of teachers
  6. Excellent organizational and management skills
  7. Excellent skills in collecting, analyzing, and using data to support planning and instruction
  8. Strong technology skills.
  9. Excellent oral and written communication, facilitation, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.

REPORTS TO: Administrator of DECC Programs

LOCATION: Delaware Early Childhood Center

JOB GOAL: To provide instructional coaching, professional learning, and technical support to educators serving children from birth to kindergarten entry.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provides job-embedded instructional coaching through observations, modeling, co-teaching, and reflective feedback
  2. Supports teachers in implementing developmentally appropriate, research-based instructional practices aligned with the curriculum and Delaware Early Learning Foundations.
  3. Supports implementation of inclusive instructional practices for children with and without disabilities
  4. Collaborates with teachers, specialists, therapists, and administrators to improve instructional practices and student outcomes
  5. Assists staff with collecting, analyzing, and using child assessment data to inform instruction and intervention,
  6. Supports implementation of universal screening, progress monitoring, and MTSS Processes
  7. Plans, facilitates, and follows up on professional learning aligned with school and district goals
  8. Assists with onboarding, mentoring, and supporting new teachers
  9. Promotes positive classroom environments through developmentally appropriate classroom management, and social-emotional learning practices
  10. Collaborates with leadership to identify instructional priorities using classroom and student data
  11. Develops instructional resources and materials to support curriculum implementation
  12. Maintains current knowledge of early childhood research, instructional best practices, and state initiatives
  13. Demonstrates professionalism, leadership, and a commitment to continuous learning
  14. Other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor that pertain to the position

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires an additional 19 days beyond a standard 188-day teacher contract

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Works 10 months + 1 month per terms of master agreement. This position is grant funded and is based on availability of funds.

EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.

The following are conditions of employment for new employees:

  1. Satisfactory criminal background check prior to being placed on payroll.
  2. Satisfactory child protection registry check.
  3. Mandatory direct deposit of pay
  4. Documentation of Mantoux skin test results for entrance to school system.

All applicants are required to submit three (3) letters of reference, with one from an immediate supervisor that is dated within the past year. Applicants are advised that a copy of the most recent evaluation will be requested if selected for an interview. The evaluation can be loaded as part of the application in advance.
