Across our ‘Sibling Centres’ - Hazelwood and Possum Early Childhood Centre

Location: Hazelbrook NSW

Specialised Birth-3 Program and Preschool Program across two centres

We have an innovative model of early childhood education where our educators can ‘loop’ across two centres to support children transition across tailor made learning environments in our Hazelwood and Possum ‘Sibling’ Early Childhood Centres

About Us

Hazelwood ECC is part of Connect Children and Families We recently transitioned to specialise exclusively in education and care for children aged 6 weeks to 3 years, with children transitioning to Connect’s Possum ECC for the 3–5 years program.

We focus on creating nurturing, respectful environments where infants and toddlers feel safe to explore, grow, and develop with confidence. In our Possum centre experiences are tailored for our preschool program with a large yard area. Our educators form strong, secure relationships with children and design purposeful spaces that foster independence, curiosity and holistic development.

Our practice is grounded in evidence-based approaches, including:

About You

We’d love to hear from educators who:

  • Demonstrate playfulness and maintain a strong focus on children's rights
  • Possess a thorough understanding of child development
  • Hold a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care
  • Have up-to-date First Aid, CPR, Asthma, and Anaphylaxis certifications
  • Present valid Working with Children Check and National Police Check credentials
  • Exhibit genuine enthusiasm for working with children from birth to age three
  • Recognise the distinct developmental needs of infants and toddlers vs preschoolers
  • Commit to respectful, responsive approaches in practice
  • Value teamwork and open communication
  • Strive for ongoing professional growth and engage thoughtfully in reflective practice

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide nurturing, responsive care and high-quality education for children aged 6 weeks–5 years.
  • Work collaboratively to plan, document and implement programs that support each child’s learning and development.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with children and families.
  • Participate in reflective practice, team collaboration and ongoing professional learning.

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) has been providing outstanding care for Victoria's children and their families for over 147 years.

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.

With a passionate, highly skilled and committed staff campus wide of over 5,000, we provide a full range of clinical services, tertiary care and health promotion and prevention programs for children and young people.

We are the designated state-wide major trauma centre for paediatrics in Victoria and a Nationally Funded Centre for cardiac and liver transplantation.
