Center Director

Family and Early Childhood Education programs

Pay rate $ 39.00/hour

The Opportunity Alliance is looking to fill our Center Director position, specifically supporting our Early Head Start and Head Start programs.

The Center Director will serve as the lead staff at a multi-class center serving children ages birth to five. The right candidate will support staff, meet the needs of children and their families and provide guidance and feedback to the program’s leadership team.

Schedule Full-time, 30 hours per week, hourly position.

Mon. – Fri. regular business hours.

Location Onsite in Portland, ME

Some remote is possible though the expectation will be to be onsite supporting the Child and Family Services East End Center

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, plus 3-5 years of administrative experience in a Head Start Program required.
  • 1-3 years of program evaluation experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with complex information, giving great attention to detail, & engaging in effective problem-solving.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in navigating large databases, report-gathering, and in Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
  • Commitment to social justice and the mission of Head Start.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background, child protective service check & sex offender check.
  • Must not be on the state or federal suspension and disbarment list.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and TB screen.
  • ECE must be current on MMR and TDAP immunizations.
  • Must be able to exert moderate physical effort with occasional standing, walking, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, typing and frequently lift and carry small children or material weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Driving may be necessary to attend meetings and trainings but is not a primary and essential job responsibility.
