Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assesses the needs and suitability of individuals entering the treatment court program
  • Coordinates social services, crisis intervention services and treatments for participating families
  • Weekly reporting of client progress, concerns, and achievements in written form
  • Provide support and advocacy for families throughout their involvement in the Court Program with various social systems, to include child welfare, criminal, federal agencies, etc.
  • Assists with facilitating multidisciplinary team staffings, which involves treatment providers, counselors, child welfare workers, and attorneys, to collaborate on and coordinate services delivery to meet the needs of each family
  • Coordinates daily with child welfare caseworkers and other service providers involved in assigned cases
  • Testifies in statutory court hearings for assigned cases on the program and compliance of participants, and the efforts made to achieve family reunification
  • Collects data required for evaluation and reporting requirements
  • Maintain up to date client records to include electronic entry of drug tests, as well as filing documentation of client progress
  • Reports to Early Childhood Court Program Manager regarding participant compliance with program requirements and treatment plans
  • Maintains appropriate working relationships with child welfare workers, attorneys, community partners, judicial officials and court staff
  • Utilizes proficient conflict management skills, which includes the ability to resolve issues in stressful situations and demonstrating the ability to maintain a therapeutic approach
  • Performs related duties as required

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Services, Behavioral Science, or a closely related field, and five (5) years of experience working with drug treatment cases, addiction or child abuse services; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Good knowledge of child welfare legal cases and of child abuse and neglect laws
  • Knowledge of theories and approaches related to child development, family dynamics, substance abuse treatment and recovery
  • Skilled in communicating effectively with hostile, abusive or irrational individuals
  • Skilled in managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Must have valid driver’s license, motor vehicle liability insurance, personal injury insurance, and a personal vehicle; required to use personal vehicle
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to adjust to rapidly fluctuating situations
  • Ability to react professionally and safely under potential or actual volatile conditions
  • Ability to operate personal computer; ability to enhance technological skills; Proficiency in Excel and Word; ability to develop and maintain variety of spreadsheets to track client and provider information
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, County employees, defendants and their families, outside agencies, caseworkers and the public.
  • Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance
  • Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test
  • May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek

Working Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information

  • Generally operates a computer and other office productivity machinery

  • Positions self to perform essential functions
