The Opportunity

The University of Edinburgh Business School seeks to appoint an Early Career Fellow or Lecturer in Digital Innovation and Artificial Intelligence (AI) within its Entrepreneurship and Innovation Group. We are looking for a high-quality candidate for this appointment who will contribute to the Group’s research and teaching.

Specifically, we are looking for a candidate with a strong research profile and the skills appropriate to conducting research and to designing and delivering courses in one or more of the following areas: AI for business, digital/AI innovation and innovation management, and digital/AI business and transformation. We will consider candidates with specific expertise in the management of AI as a significant element of their scholarship. We welcome applications from those with a disciplinary background in one of the following areas: innovation management, information systems, and computer science.

Regarding teaching, we are looking for a candidate with skills appropriate for delivering courses across the undergraduate, master and executive education levels, and both on-campus and online. For instance, the successful candidate would be expected to contribute to or lead courses on our on-campus new MSc Programme in Artificial Intelligence for Business, which starts in September 2026, and/or to our MSc Programme in Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and to support the development of our portfolio of AI courses targeting executive education. More broadly, we expect this Early Career / Lecturer to contribute, as required, to the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Group’s current portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate on-campus and online courses.

Your skills and attributes for success:

• A clear research agenda with evidence of success in achieving at least one high-quality journal publication for Lecturer (Grade 8), or evidence of or the potential to publish in leading, internationally-recognised research journals for Early Career Fellow (Grade 7).
• A commitment to other research-related contributions including participation in international conferences, supervision of research students, grant applications and consultancy projects.
• The ability to design and deliver courses for online as well as on-campus students at all levels, and contribute to, and where appropriate, lead the design and delivery of degree programmes.
• A commitment to excellence in classroom and digital teaching, and to advising UG/PG dissertation students.
• The ability to engage confidently and competently with policy makers, practitioners and other non-academic stakeholders.
