The Volunteer will live in a private apartment in Kingston. Kingston provides access to essential services and amenities, including banks, supermarkets, restaurants, pharmacies, and medical facilities. Electricity and cellular service are generally reliable, although occasional power outages may occur. Internet access is available either in the home or nearby.

Activities

Conduct training workshops for teachers and staff on e-learning tools and instructional technology.

Support curriculum digitization and the development of multimedia learning resources.

Mentor educators in designing and delivering online and blended learning experiences.

Assist with the implementation and management of Learning Management Systems (LMS).

Develop monitoring and evaluation tools to assess the effectiveness of digital learning initiatives.

Collaborate with local partners to adapt global digital learning best practices to the Jamaican context.

Facilitate student-centered digital learning activities and projects.

Provide technical support during digital learning events, workshops, and simulations.

You may also work on additional projects that support the organization’s priorities, such as facilitating digital literacy workshops for adults or supporting summer coding camps.

Training

After a two-week orientation on topics such as health and safety, you will move to an urban community where you will collaborate with JAJ staff to assess the learning needs and develop a work plan in line with the national curriculum.

Peace Corps/Jamaica will equip you with Patwa language resources and you may work with a tutor who can help you build basic language skills to connect with the community.
