Job Category: Goodwill RetailThe E-Commerce Associate plays a vital role in advancing Goodwill’s mission by identifying, evaluating, and preparing donated merchandise for online sale. This position supports revenue growth through accurate product selection, listing, fulfillment, and customer service while modeling strong work ethic and professionalism for individuals participating in Goodwill’s training and employment programs.
Through attention to detail, operational efficiency, and a commitment to quality, the E-Commerce Associate helps maximize the value of donated goods and ensures an excellent customer experience across online platforms.
Merchandise Processing & Selection
- Retrieve donated merchandise from assigned containers.
- Evaluate items against established e-commerce selection criteria to determine online resale potential.
- Sort items into appropriate categories (e.g., tote box, bushel cart, salvage container).
- Ensure non-saleable items are properly identified and routed according to organizational guidelines.
- Maintain workflow by staging empty containers and preparing for incoming merchandise.
Online Listing & Fulfillment
- Prepare approved merchandise for online sale, including processing media items when applicable.
- Upload product information accurately to designated e-commerce platforms (e.g., Amazon and others).
- Package and ship sold merchandise in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain accurate records related to sales, deposits, and refunds.
Workplace & Mission Support
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workstation at all times.
- Model professionalism, accountability, and strong work ethic, serving as an example to individuals participating in training or workforce development programs.
- Support Goodwill’s mission and values through daily actions and quality performance.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
- No prior e-commerce experience required; training provided.
- Previous retail, warehouse, production, or customer service experience is preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
- Basic computer and photographing skills (email, data entry, internet navigation).
- Ability to follow written selection criteria and operational procedures.
- Strong attention to detail when evaluating and processing merchandise.
- Ability to meet productivity and accuracy standards.
- Effective written communication skills for responding to customer inquiries.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and move items up to 30–40 pounds.
- Ability to bend, reach, and move throughout warehouse environment.

The E-Commerce Operations hours are Monday - Friday, 8A - 5P and located at 5171 Eisenhower Parkway, Macon, GA.

Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia was founded in 1975. When James K. Stiff, came to Goodwill of Middle Georgia in 1994, the organization was still very small, employing only 60 individuals. Mr. Stiff saw the need for the services that Goodwill provides in the CSRA and added them in 1996. Since then, Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia and the CSRA has grown to over 700 individuals on payroll and 14 value retail stores.
