Job Title: E+ Business Intelligence and Reporting Analyst

Pay Band: PB8

Contract Duration: 2 Year Fixed Term Contract with possibility of extension

Location: London, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Belfast

Salary: £40,179 annual Gross Salary

Role Purpose

The Business Intelligence (BI) and Reporting Analyst Lead will deliver high-quality performance reporting and insight for the Erasmus+ programme, enabling effective decision-making, accountability, and delivery against programme objectives. This includes supporting the reporting requirements for DfE and the European Commission. A significant aspect of this role is to manage the external reporting capability for the programme, ensuring that internal/external stakeholders’ requirements are met. The role will work closely with the wider corporate data function and align to central DEP standards, and will lead on KPIs, dashboards, and management information for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring outputs are accurate, consistent, and timely. The postholder will translate complex data into clear, actionable insights to support performance monitoring, identify risks and opportunities, and drive continuous improvement across the programme.

Main accountabilities but not limited to the following:

• Develop and maintain Erasmus+ performance reporting frameworks, ensuring alignment with programme objectives, KPIs, and DfE/EC requirements.
• Translate complex programme data into clear narratives and actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
• Collect, prepare, and manage data from multiple programme systems and delivery partners, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and fitness for purpose.
• Build and maintain interactive dashboards and reports (e.g. Power BI) to support programme monitoring and reporting.
• Support teams in identifying key operational and performance questions, defining data needs to inform decision-making.
• Conduct in-depth analysis on programme delivery, participant journeys, and operational performance to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Ensure all data and reporting activities comply with data governance, ethics, and privacy standards.
• Collaborate with data, digital, and technology teams to improve data quality, integration, and accessibility across Erasmus+.
• Build stakeholder capability in using data and insights through guidance and training.
• Contribute to wider British Council data best practice and learning, ensuring alignment with central DEP approaches.

• Developing code for analysis (Working): Write and document analysis code to support reproducible, reliable reporting and insights.
• Managing a data project (Working): Support planning, scoping, and delivery of data-related projects within defined timelines.

Role Specific Knowledge and Experience:

Minimum/essential

• Significant experience in BI analysis and/or data analysis.
• Ability to translate data into actionable insights and recommendations.
• Strong quantitative analysis skills, with proficiency in tools such as SQL, analytics platforms, and Excel – and coding skills in python (preferred) or R.
• Experience developing and tracking metrics for digital service performance.
• Strong data visualisation skills, with experience creating dashboards and reports.
• Understanding of data privacy and security principles.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including product, marketing, and engineering.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for diverse audiences.
• Proven ability to work independently and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Experience analysing Google Analytics (GA4) data.

Desirable

• Qualification(s) in data analysis or equivalent.
• Familiarity with visualisation tools such as Looker, Tableau and/or Power BI.
• Experience working in a global or multicultural context.
• Understanding of Agile ways of working and product development cycles

Language Requirements

• The British Council systems and global processes operate in English. Written and verbal fluency in English is required.

Education

• Degree or equivalent work experience.

This is a hybrid role – primarily working from the office (3 days a week) with home working flexibility.
