Bicycle and Scooter Repair Technician/Driver - Hybrid (1099 Contractor)

Location: Tuscaloosa, AL

Warehouse Address: 2624 18th Street, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401

Availability Needed:

• Friday–Monday: Availability between 12:00 PM and 2:00 AM
• Any additional availability is a bonus

Pay: $16.00/hour

Important: Candidates must have reliable transportation to commute to and from the warehouse. A valid driver's license is required, as this is a hybrid role combining scooter/bicycle repair work with driving and field operations. A company vehicle will be provided while completing field-related job duties.

Job Summary

Veo is seeking a mechanically inclined Bicycle and Scooter Repair Technician/Driver to support both vehicle maintenance and field operations. This is a hybrid position that combines hands-on repair work with driving responsibilities throughout the local market.

In the warehouse, you will inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair Veo's fleet of electric bikes and scooters. In the field, you will drive a company-provided van to locate vehicles, perform battery swaps, retrieve scooters and bikes, and redistribute the fleet throughout the city.

The ideal candidate enjoys working with their hands, has mechanical aptitude or repair experience, is comfortable driving throughout the local area, and can transition between warehouse repairs and field operations as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and maintenance on Veo's electric bikes and scooters
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and complete basic to more involved repairs
• Conduct routine inspections and quality checks to ensure vehicles meet safety standards
• Track and document repairs and maintenance using Veo's mobile applications
• Monitor and maintain inventory of replacement parts and repair supplies
• Keep the warehouse and repair areas clean, organized, and operating efficiently
• Drive a company-provided van to complete field-related tasks
• Locate and retrieve electric bikes and scooters throughout the city
• Perform battery swaps and fleet redistribution
• Rebalance vehicles from low-demand to high-demand areas
• Respond to on-demand requests to locate and retrieve vehicles
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Skills

• Mechanical, maintenance, automotive, bicycle, scooter, or similar hands-on repair experience preferred
• Comfortable troubleshooting mechanical issues and working with tools
• Must be at least 21 years old
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
• Ability to meet Veo's driving requirements
• Comfortable using smartphone apps and technology
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull electric bikes and scooters weighing up to 80 lbs
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Reliable transportation to and from the warehouse
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team
• Must be available Friday through Monday between 12:00 PM and 2:00 AM
• Any additional availability is a bonus

Nice to Have

• Experience repairing bicycles, scooters, motorcycles, automobiles, or similar equipment
• Basic knowledge of electronics or electrical systems
• Experience with tasks such as tire repair, patching, soldering, or general mechanical maintenance
• Previous experience in delivery, warehouse, manufacturing, logistics, fleet maintenance, or related environments
• Knowledge of local streets and geography
• Ability to work evenings and weekends

Below is the expected salary range for this position. The listed range is a good faith estimate, and exact compensation and total package may vary depending on market conditions and candidate qualifications.
