What are Trust Fund Positions?
Trust Fund positions are unique to the Smithsonian. They are paid for from a variety of sources, including the Smithsonian endowment, revenue from our business activities, donations, grants and contracts. Trust employees are not part of the civil service, nor does trust fund employment lead to Federal status. The salary ranges for trust positions are generally the same as for federal positions and in many cases trust and federal employees work side by side. The Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O) Administrator / Support Analyst is responsible for the day-to-day administration, support, configuration coordination, testing, documentation, and continuous improvement of the organization's Microsoft Dynamics 365 environment. This role supports Dynamics 365 Finance, Supply Chain Management (SCM), Commerce, Warehouse Management, and Order Management operations by providing functional and administrative support to end users, maintaining system integrity and security, coordinating issue resolution, and supporting business process improvements.
The position serves as a primary operational support resource for D365 users and stakeholders, helping to ensure the platform remains reliable, secure, compliant, and aligned with business objectives. The role works closely with business users, product management, consultants, vendors, and Microsoft Support to resolve issues, implement enhancements, validate system changes, and improve user adoption.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Administers and supports Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management (SCM) platforms by managing system configurations, environment operations, governance documentation, performance monitoring, change control, testing, and ongoing platform enhancements.
- Serves as the primary support resource for Dynamics 365 users by managing service requests, troubleshooting system and business process issues, maintaining support documentation, driving issue resolution, and recommending continuous improvements to enhance system performance and user experience.
- Administers Dynamics 365 security and access management by maintaining user roles and permissions, processing access requests, supporting audits and compliance activities, conducting access reviews and segregation of duties assessments, and ensuring accurate security documentation.
- Supports Dynamics 365 Commerce and retail operations by assisting users with POS, order management, inventory, warehouse, and fulfillment processes, troubleshooting integrated system issues, and documenting resolutions, business impacts, and escalation activities.
- Supports and maintains Power Platform solutions integrated with Dynamics 365 by monitoring automated workflows, assisting with testing and enhancements, and collaborating with stakeholders to drive process automation and continuous improvement.
- Supports system governance and change management activities by maintaining configuration documentation, coordinating testing and deployment validation, participating in release and governance processes, and communicating change impacts, risks, and readiness to stakeholders.
- Partners with business stakeholders and subject matter experts to analyze requirements, optimize business processes, document solutions, recommend system enhancements, and promote best practices that maximize the value of the Dynamics 365 platform.
- Supports quality assurance and testing efforts for Dynamics 365 applications by developing and executing test plans, validating end-to-end business processes and integrations, coordinating testing activities, documenting defects and risks, and supporting user acceptance testing and production readiness.
- Develops and maintains user training and operational documentation, delivers end-user training and onboarding, promotes user adoption and best practices, and supports knowledge management initiatives to enhance effective use of the Dynamics 365 platform.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (BS) from a four-year college or university in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field and/or 5-7 years related experience preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Three (3) or more years of experience administering, supporting, or configuring Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, Supply Chain Management, Commerce, or other enterprise ERP platforms.
- Experience supporting mission-critical business applications in an enterprise environment.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, Supply Chain Management, and related business processes.
- Experience supporting ERP applications, end users, and business operations in a production environment.
- Experience managing user access, security roles, permissions, workflows, and configuration settings.
- Experience troubleshooting application, process, and integration-related issues.
- Knowledge of Lifecycle Services (LCS) and D365 environment management concepts.
- Experience supporting testing, upgrades, releases, and change management activities.
- Ability to gather, analyze, and document business and technical requirements.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organizational, documentation, prioritization, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Experience collaborating with business users, technical teams, consultants, and vendors
Preferred Qualifications
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance Functional Consultant Associate certification.
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management Functional Consultant Associate certification.
- Experience supporting D365 Commerce, POS, Warehouse Management mobile applications, and Order Management processes.
- Experience with Power Platform technologies, including Power Apps and Power Automate.
- Experience with Power BI reporting and analytics solutions.
- Experience with Adyen or other payment platform integrations.
- Experience working with Azure DevOps, Agile, ITIL, or hybrid project delivery methodologies.
- Understanding of integrations, APIs, data entities, data migration processes, and external system connectivity.
- Experience supporting retail, warehouse, distribution, inventory, finance, or supply chain business processes.
Education completed outside the United States must be deemed equivalent to higher education programs of U.S. Institutions by an organization that specializes in the interpretation of foreign educational credentials.
