Job Description

Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

  • Manage and oversee the PTCED (Pretreatment, Cathodic Electrodeposition) production processes ensuring consistent output quality and efficiency aligned with organizational goals.
  • Implement strict control measures to identify and minimize CED and paint defects resulting from the process, thereby enhancing product reliability and customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct comprehensive laboratory testing and quality assessments essential for verifying PTCED standards and ensuring adherence to regulatory and internal quality parameters.
  • Foster seamless communication and provide technical and operational support to both internal stakeholders and external customers to address concerns and optimize processes.
  • Strategically plan and monitor workforce attendance and productivity, managing leave schedules of cell members to maintain uninterrupted line operations.
  • Identify and drive cost-effective initiatives related to consumables by monitoring usage, proposing improvements, and executing Kaizen and Industry 4.0 ideas aimed at waste reduction and process optimization.
  • Create and maintain a safe, conducive, and engaging working environment by enforcing safety protocols and ensuring strict adherence to equipment safety interlocks.
  • Possess hands-on expertise in operating PTCED production lines along with familiarity with critical paint shop equipment such as spray guns, pumps, blowers, and burners to effectively supervise maintenance and troubleshooting activities.
  • Analyze and resolve ED and paint-related defects using robust troubleshooting methodologies backed by sound knowledge of manufacturing and supplier processes.
  • Leverage knowledge of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) systems to enhance equipment reliability and operational uptime.
  • Apply quality management tools and systems rigorously to uphold and elevate manufacturing standards.
  • Implement and promote industry best practices within the paint shop to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence in line with Mahindra & Mahindra’s manufacturing ethos.

Education Qualification

The ideal candidate will hold a diploma or a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from a recognised institution, demonstrating a strong foundational understanding of manufacturing and process engineering principles.

Education in specialized fields such as Mechanical, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering is advantageous given the technical nature of the paint shop operations.

Continuous professional development certifications related to quality management, process engineering, or production technology will be considered an asset and reflect the candidate’s commitment to excellence and growth in the manufacturing domain.

General Experience

Candidates should possess between 3 to 7 years of progressive experience in manufacturing environments, particularly within paint shop operations or related production processes.

Experience working in large-scale industrial manufacturing settings with a focus on Paint Shop or Electrodeposition processes is essential.

Demonstrable experience in managing production lines, dealing with quality control, process optimization, and defect troubleshooting will contribute to success in this role.

Familiarity with the implementation of Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Kaizen, and Industry 4.0 initiatives is highly desirable to support continuous improvement efforts.

Exposure to coordinating technical teams and liaising with internal and external customers to align production objectives with business goals will be an important aspect of the role.

Critical Experience

  • Proven hands-on expertise in handling PTCED production lines within a paint shop environment, including operational knowledge of spray guns, pumps, blowers, and burners.
  • In-depth understanding of electrophoretic deposition (ED) and paint defect analysis, along with a track record of successful defect resolution and process troubleshooting.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes directly influencing paint quality, as well as supplier process insights to manage upstream quality impacts effectively.
  • Applied experience in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) methodologies aimed at reducing downtime and enhancing production reliability.
  • Competency in utilizing quality tools such as Statistical Process Control (SPC), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to drive quality assurance initiatives.
  • Familiarity with industry best practices and the ability to implement sustainability-oriented manufacturing solutions in line with Mahindra & Mahindra’s leadership competencies.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities in fostering team engagement, promoting a safety-first culture, and championing continuous improvement practices.
