He angitūtanga: The opportunity

Auckland Live is the leader in performing arts, culture, entertainment, and events in Auckland Tāmaki Makaurau, and is Aotearoa New Zealand’s largest performing arts platform. Auckland Conventions, Venues & Events facilitates and delivers exceptional events, including meetings, conferences, exhibitions, gala dinners, and awards ceremony from 10 to 3,000+ people.

We are currently seeking a casual Duty Operations Manager, to manage the onsite delivery of events across our portfolio of Tātaki Auckland Unlimited (TAU) venues, covering all aspects of event services, including venue, front of house, catering, food and beverage and operational event management.

The key purpose of this casual role involves planning and delivery of events, pack in and pack out and daily operations, delivering of exceptional customer service and adhering to current licencing and organisational health and safety policies.

Responsibilities include delivering events to a high standard; leading front of house and visitor experience functions with a focus on Manaakitanga: briefing and managing of event staff; being main point of escalation, resolving ticketing and health and safety issues and ensuring an exceptional experience for all patrons.

Our ideal candidate is a talented people leader with proven experience in hospitality and events.

  • A minimum 3 years’ experience at an operational/managerial level, in a conference centre, hotel or similar hospitality or service-related environment, including experience in food and beverage service, is desirable.
  • You're an approachable and communicative leader, with proven ability to lead; manage a large team, and motivate and develop people
  • You know how to effectively manage operational aspects of conference and event venues, have a professional and approachable manner, and have the ability to think on your feet and problem solve, while maintaining flexibility at all times.
  • You have demonstrated high levels of customer service, with a focus on visitor experience.
  • You will ideally be available to work flexible hours, (including evenings, early mornings, late finishes, weekends and public holidays)
