We are seeking an enthusiastic and organised Duty Manager (Swim School Lead) to join our team at Dorchester Sports Centre. This role combines active duty management with responsibility for the day-to-day coordination and development of our swim school.

You will play a vital role in ensuring the centre operates smoothly while delivering a high-quality swimming programme and excellent customer experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as Duty Manager overseeing the safe and efficient operation of the leisure centre
  • Lead and coordinate the swim school programme including lesson planning and scheduling
  • Supervise support and develop Swim Instructors, Lifeguards and centre staff
  • Ensure all health and safety and safeguarding procedures are followed at all times
  • Be the main point of contact for swim school enquiries feedback and issues
  • Manage rotas staffing levels and cover where required
  • Handle customer queries and complaints professionally and effectively
  • Support wider centre operations including reception and other departments when needed

Hours: 31 hours per week, Monday to Sunday (rota basis)

Requirements

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about swimming leisure and customer service
  • A confident and approachable leader with strong people skills
  • Highly organised and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Calm under pressure and able to make sound decisions
  • A clear and effective communicator with staff and customers
  • Flexible and reliable with availability for evenings and weekends

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • Experience working in a leisure centre or swim school environment
  • Previous supervisory or duty management experience
  • Knowledge of swim lesson programmes and progression frameworks
  • Understanding of health and safety procedures in a wet-side environment
  • Relevant qualifications such as NPLQ Swim England and First Aid
  • Good IT and administrative skills
