About the Pools

There are four Council-owned outdoor swimming pools in Mount Alexander Shire, located in Castlemaine, Harcourt, Maldon and Newstead. Each facility forms a key part of the aquatic recreation services across Mount Alexander Shire Council throughout the Summer period.

Facilities are made up of pools ranging from 25 – 50m and some program pools, while all include a toddler or infant pool. Each facility has a healthy eating kiosk and Harcourt, Maldon and Newstead all boast public access BBQ amenities'.

About the role

As a Duty Manager at Mount Alexander Outdoor Pools you will have delegated authority of the Centre Manager, and will maintain a broad knowledge of centre programs and services whilst at the same time managing a range of centre functions whilst on shift which may include;

  • Maintaining a focus on ‘Big Picture’ issues Centre wide
  • Maintain a working knowledge and understanding of Centre’s Emergency Action Plan
  • Working autonomously as well as being an active leader

This is a casual position and the hourly rate is up to $42.35 + superannuation + Y benefits.

About you

As a Duty Manager you will act as positive role model in an effort to build strong people, strong families and strong communities, as well as identifying potential risk factors and taking steps to reduce those risks. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, a positive attitude and a commitment to the safety and wellbeing of children, young people and all facility users.

Essential Qualifications

  • Aquatic Pool Lifeguard Certificate
  • HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
  • HLTAID011 Provide First Aid

Other Desired Qualifications or Knowledge

  • Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety Legislation is an advantage
  • Previous experience in a similar facility in a supervisory role is desirable

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.
