The role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced and motivated Duty Manager to join our Airport Hospitality Team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key leadership role within a fast-paced, customer-focused airport environment, ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of our lounge facilities. As Duty Manager, you will lead and support operational teams, deliver exceptional customer service, maintain the highest standards of food safety and compliance, and act as the senior point of contact for both customers and colleagues. You will be instrumental in creating a welcoming and premium experience for our guests while driving operational excellence across all aspects of the lounge.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acting as the senior manager on site and the primary escalation point for customer complaints, ensuring concerns are resolved professionally and efficiently.
  • Ensuring all food hygiene standards and procedures are implemented, maintained, and embedded within the team.
  • Overseeing all operational requirements, including staffing levels, colleague deployment, skill maintenance through effective rotation, customer and table planning, reception processes, and daily banking activities, including investigating and resolving discrepancies.
  • Working closely with the Kitchen Manager to manage stock ordering, stock control, invoicing, and the receipt and recording of deliveries in line with MAG policies.
  • Maintaining accountability for all legislative and compliance requirements relating to the lounge and food and beverage operation, including Health & Safety, food hygiene, and the responsible service of alcohol.
  • Ensuring waste is handled and disposed of correctly in accordance with lounge, airport, and environmental requirements.
  • Assisting with the preparation of staff rotas, timesheets, and absence management administration.
  • Undertaking any other reasonable duties as required by management to support the successful operation of the business.

What will make you successful in the role?

  • A solid background in the hospitality sector, with a proven track record
  • Experience of managing catering teams either in house or via contracted providers
  • Successfully managed budgets, capable of prioritising spend, driving profit and identifying cost efficiencies
  • Computer literacy on mainstream PC applications including Microsoft officeAbility to lead, inspire and motivate a diverse team with fairness and empathy, having courageous performance discussions as appropriate
  • Able to create a culture of results within a high pressured environment through a strong team spirit & is highly organised in working style, prioritising, scheduling and delegating with skill
  • Takes ownership, is committed to achieving growth by creating a culture of innovation commitment and engagement
  • Food Hygiene level 3 or above would be an advantage
  • Know the key principles of risk assessment and how to identify, plan for and minimise risks to the service and operation.
