Duty Driver – The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center (Full-Time)

Location: Kansas City, MO
Schedule: Part Time, 25 hours/week
Pay: $15.00/hr.

The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center is seeking a professional, dependable, and mission-driven Duty Driver If you enjoy helping others, driving safely, and being part of a team that truly makes a difference in the community, this is the job for you.

As a Duty Driver, you will transport beneficiaries and staff, support daily program operations, and represent The Salvation Army with courtesy and professionalism. This position plays a vital role in the success of our rehabilitation program.

Key Responsibilities

Transportation & Delivery

  • Safely transport beneficiaries to and from their work therapy assignments

  • Transport Salvation Army staff for official business

  • Deliver inter-office mail, packages, and other assigned items

  • Follow daily route plans and adjust as needed

  • Communicate pick-up or delivery issues promptly to supervisor/dispatcher

Vehicle Safety & Maintenance

  • Complete daily vehicle inspections (oil, water, air, tires, etc.)

  • Ensure vehicle safety, cleanliness, and security at all times

  • Load and unload items during deliveries

  • Secure the vehicle at the end of each shift

  • Report all accidents or damage immediately

Professionalism & Representation

  • Serve as a courteous and respectful representative of The Salvation Army

  • Maintain required appearance standards (clean clothing, neat grooming, shirt tucked in)

  • Treat all passengers with dignity and respect

  • Uphold and support the mission and values of The Salvation Army

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of licensed driving experience

  • Willing to complete required courses, including “Coaching the Experienced Driver”

  • Must pass The Salvation Army Road Test

Licensing Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license appropriate for agency vehicle types

  • Clean MVR / acceptable driving record

Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to follow written and verbal directions

  • Clear, professional communication with passengers and coworkers

  • Basic math skills (distance, weight, volume)

  • Ability to organize efficient routes

  • Familiarity with two-way radio equipment

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs regularly, up to 100 lbs frequently

  • Occasional lifting/moving of over 100 lbs

  • Frequent standing, walking, reaching, and bending

  • Must wear back guard when performing lifting tasks

  • Ability to work in warehouse and outdoor environments with variable temperatures

Qualifications

What You Need

Required

  • At least two years licensed driving experience
  • Passing grade on the "Coaching the Experienced Driver" self-study course (or willing to complete)
  • Valid driver's license to operate location's truck types
  • Clear MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) report
  • Strong communication skills with customers and helpers
  • Basic math skills

  • Regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel
  • Reach with hands and arms
  • Frequently required to stand and walk
  • Occasionally sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch
  • Must regularly lift/move up to 50 pounds
  • Frequently lift/move up to 100 pounds
  • Occasionally lift/move more than 100 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities: close, distance, peripheral, depth perception
  • Must wear back guard when doing substantial lifting or moving
