POSITION TITLE: Dual Rate Food & Beverage Cashier

DEPARTMENT: Room Service, Room Service Cherokee Tower, Selu Garden Cafe, Gordon Ramsay, Noodle Bar, Lobby Café, Guy Fieri, Starbucks Cherokee Tower

GRADE/FLSA STATUS: H8/16-Non-Exempt

BADGE TYPE/COLOR: Key - Blue

REPORTS TO: Food Service Supervisor

SUPERVISES: F&B Host, Service Person, Dining Attendant, F&B Cashier, Pool Server, Pool Cabana Host

Ensure guests are greeted warmly upon entry,provide excellent service,process payments, and assist fellow team members to ensure overall guest satisfaction.

JOB ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES—F&B CASHIER:

  1. Greet guests; seat them in the restaurant according to the rotation schedule

  2. Operate a cash register and properly settle checks

  3. Tabulate bills using calculators, cash registers, or optical price scanners

  4. Responsible for the proper settlement of all guest checks

  5. Receive payment by cash, credit cards, comps, or automatic debits

  6. Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to guests

  7. Record tips from credit cards, automatic debits, and comp guests

  8. Keep the work area neat and clean

  9. Assist guests by providing information and resolving their complaints

  10. Balance the register at the end of the shift

  11. Build relationships with guests

  12. Demonstrate superior guest service skills by displaying outlined service behaviors

  13. Ensure service recovery activities

  14. Maintain an upbeat and positive attitude, create an atmosphere of luck and positive energy with gestures, and sustain enthusiasm from one interaction to the next

  15. Build relationships by greeting guests with a warm, friendly verbal greeting

  16. Maintain clean and orderly checkout areas and complete other general cleaning duties

  17. Assist in clearing, cleaning, and resetting tables

  18. Provide a warm farewell and thank the guest for visiting

  19. Participative member of the team by volunteering and being involved with projects, committees, and task forces, by providing input and suggestions

  20. Adhere to regulatory, departmental, and company policies/procedures in an ethical manner

  1. EDR Cashier:

  2. Able to work behind the serving line as a cook, as needed

  3. Control food production to include: proper cooking methods, cooking time, and temperature, ensuring sanitation, handling, and storage of prepared food and leftovers as needed

  • Room Service Cashier:

  1. Accept responsibility for cash register bankroll, all cash received, credit card charges, complimentary receipts, and charges to rooms

  2. Maintain knowledge of current menu items and pricing, how the items are prepared, and what accompanies each meal

  3. Responsible for taking guests' food and beverage orders in a timely, cordial, and professional manner, noting any special requests, obtaining needed approvals/verifications as necessary, and processing all orders using the computer system

  4. Assure timely delivery of comp requests from VIP Services and other casino departments

  5. Responsible for keeping accurate log entries for all call-down orders, special requests, and hotel guest charge records

  6. Verify guest room numbers and estimated time of arrival for delivery of amenities

    Dispatch and track service person availability for orders and assign deliveries, as well as tray pick

  7. Notify management of any guest complaints, alleged discrepancies, and/or problems involving Room Service

  8. Assist in the routine inspections and monthly inventories of room service equipment, china, flatware, linen, etc., to ensure proper storage and maintenance

JOB ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES--SUPERVISOR:

  • Ensure that all food and beverage products served meet the established specifications and standards

  • Continuously improve service by evaluating service breakdowns using guest feedback, data, and behavior

  • Communicate service breakdowns and facilitate opportunity-seeking meetings to consistently involve all team members in service improvements

  • Address service breakdowns and follow up to ensure guest satisfaction

  • Resolve all guest complaints and relay to the manager

  • Ensure that adequate supply levels are maintained

  • Assist with department reporting and data analysis as required

  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of department procedures and guidelines

  • Assist in the maintenance and development of procedures for food service and menu items for maximum guest satisfaction

  1. Prepare schedules and station breakdowns

  2. Conduct pre-shift meetings to communicate important information

  3. Conduct end-of-shift banking functions

  4. Assist the cashier with voids and overrides

  • Work with Finance and IT teams to ensure that all revenue is captured and reported in an accurate and relevant manner

  • Build relationships by greeting guests and staff with a warm, friendly verbal greeting and maintaining an upbeat, positive attitude

  • Take personal responsibility for creating an atmosphere of luck and positive energy with gestures and sustain enthusiasm from one interaction to the next

  1. Prepare prep lists

  2. Serve as a communication liaison to subordinates and the Restaurant Manager

  3. Responsible for the timely delivery of comp requests from VIP services and other casino departments

  4. Responsible for the complete set-up and operation of each scheduled shift

  5. Complete the shift logs in a timely and accurate manner

  6. Develop highly skilled, successful Team Members, set realistic and measurable service standards, and hold Team Members accountable for meeting standards

  7. Communicate and enforce company expectations, including Code of Commitment, policies, procedures, department goals, and business strategy

  8. Ensure service recovery activities

  9. Exhibit sound decision-making with emphasis on motivating the team and maintaining high morale

  • Enforce all appearance and uniform guidelines

  • Monitor bartenders and other Team Members with cash to ensure proper cash handling procedures

  • Conduct a physical inventory of barware and requisition replacement items as needed

  • Ensure all Team Members are following the guidelines of the EBCI liquor laws as defined by the Tribal ABC Board

  • Monitor asset control of liquor bottles, draft, and bottled beer and wine

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Adhere to regulatory, departmental, and company policies/procedures in an ethical manner

  • Selu Restaurant/The Pools:

  • Supervision of all pool activities to include staffing, scheduling, ordering, & events

  • Meet & greet pool guests to offer a high level of professional service

  • Plan and execute pool & beverage events

  • Greet, interact, and assist resort staff in a professional manner to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious work environment

  • Respond to and resolve guest complaints in a timely manner and creatively solve problems with the ability to anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and resolve potential difficulties

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. A high school diploma or GED is required

  2. Six months of food service experience is preferred

  3. RASP certification is required*

*Can be completed within 30 days of the hire date

PHYSICAL, MENTAL, ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

  1. Must be able to stoop, bend, reach, kneel, twist, and grasp items

  2. Must be able to have continuous use of hands and arms

  3. Must be able to be on feet for an 8-hour shift

  4. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and carry 5 pounds

  5. Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues

  6. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English

  7. Must be able to tolerate areas containing varying noise and temperature levels, illumination, vibrations, crowds, and air quality, including secondhand smoke

  8. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays
