Description:

POSITION PURPOSE:

A Dual Disorder Specialist provides specialized care and support for individuals diagnosed with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. The role involves assessing clients' needs, developing and implementing treatment plans, and collaborating with other professionals to deliver integrated care. The specialist promotes recovery by addressing the interplay of mental health conditions and substance use, tailoring interventions to support clients in achieving sustainable improvements in their overall well-being.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Assessment and Diagnosis:

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations to identify co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Utilize evidence-based tools and diagnostic criteria to guide treatment recommendations.

Treatment Planning and Implementation:

  • Develop individualized treatment plans addressing both mental health and substance use needs.
  • Deliver therapeutic interventions, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), and relapse prevention strategies.
  • Monitor client progress and adjust plans as needed.

Collaboration and Coordination:

  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and case managers.
  • Connect clients with community resources, support groups, and additional services.

Education and Advocacy:

  • Educate clients and their families about co-occurring disorders and treatment options.
  • Advocate for client needs within the healthcare and social service systems.

Documentation and Compliance:

  • Maintain detailed records of assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, ethical standards, and confidentiality requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in Human Service and one year of practical experience in essential areas of substance abuse treatment, including assessment, evaluation and clinical interventions OR Bachelor degree in Human Services and 3 years of paid practical experience. Knowledge of harm reduction strategies preferred
  • Valid driver license
  • Ability to drive an organization vehicle
  • Act 33/34/73 Clearances (Criminal/Child/FBI Department of Human Services)
  • Pre-Employment Drug Screen

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS/BENEFITS:

WORK SCHEDULE: This is an Exempt (salary) position. Primarily Monday through Friday daylight – hours may vary according to program need. Will provide on call services on a rotating basis with reimbursement.
