Job Description

Would you like to work with advanced signal processing and algorithm development in an innovative and world-leading company within diagnostic hearing and balance solutions?

We are looking for a DSP Engineer who is curious about real-world signal processing and motivated by turning algorithms into robust products that improve people's lives. Whether you are early in your career or already have significant industry experience, we would like to hear from you.

Signal processing that makes a difference

We develop life-changing hearing and balance diagnostic solutions used by clinicians and patients around the world. As part of our Diagnostics Global R&D organisation, you will contribute to technologies that support accurate diagnosis and better patient outcomes.

Working across international teams and brands, you will help develop and optimise signal processing solutions for medical devices, bringing innovative ideas from concept through to implementation.

Meet the DSP team

You will report directly to Jaco Botha, Manager of DSP, and join a team of 10 highly-skilled acoustics, DSP and validation engineers that share a passion for understanding and transforming physical/physiological phenomena into meaningful and verifiable results.

In the Diagnostics Global R&D organisation, the DSP team works across the entire signal chain on all products and supports all other disciplines to ensure validity and compliance of the entire measurement system: from stimulus to diagnostic result. You will have the ability to grow your technical expertise in a collaborative and supportive environment and be able to contribute to new and ongoing clinical and technological research projects.

The position is based at our Maico headquarters in Berlin or our Interacoustics headquarters in Middelfart. At Demant, we also offer flexibility to work from home when tasks allow.

Develop advanced signal processing solutions for medical devices

As a DSP Engineer, you will play a key role in developing, implementing, and optimising signal processing algorithms used in hearing and balance diagnostic solutions.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Simulating physical phenomena and translating results into meaningful data
  • Developing and refining signal processing algorithms for real-world applications
  • Translating algorithms into efficient embedded implementations on resource-constrained hardware platforms
  • Working with the complete signal chain, from signal acquisition and processing to interpretation and performance evaluation
  • Validating algorithms using synthetic and real-world datasets through performance benchmarking and testing
  • Collaborating closely with colleagues across software, systems, hardware, and PM
  • Contributing to feasibility studies, technical investigations, and product innovation
  • Supporting verification, validation, documentation, and regulatory development activities within a MedTech environment

Strong analytical skills and a passion for signal processing

It is important to us that you have the opportunity to succeed and grow in the role. We therefore imagine that you combine analytical thinking with a genuine interest in signal processing, algorithms, and engineering challenges.

We imagine that you have:

  • An educational background in software, electrical, mechatronics, robotics, mechatronics, photonics, health technology, computer science, or a related discipline
  • A strong interest in signal processing, algorithms, and embedded systems
  • Experience with DSP concepts such as filtering, time-frequency analysis, noise reduction, adaptive algorithms, or statistical signal analysis
  • Experience with MATLAB, Python, C++, or similar technical programming tools
  • the ability to analyse, validate, and optimise algorithm performance using data
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills in a multidisciplinary environment
  • A structured approach to documentation and quality-focused development
  • Experience from a regulated industry such as MedTech, automotive, aerospace, defence, or similar environments is an advantage

Join our team

We offer a collaborative and innovative work environment where continuous learning is a priority. Through ongoing development opportunities, knowledge sharing, and exposure to new technologies and projects, you will be able to expand your skills and grow professionally.

At the same time, you will enjoy flexibility, work-life balance, and the opportunity to contribute to products that make a meaningful difference for clinicians and patients worldwide.

We look forward to receiving your application before Friday 13th of September.

We value diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) and we are committed to creating an inclusive working environment. We welcome applications from all qualified candidates regardless of ethnic background, personality, age, gender, and education. Diversity is part of our cultural DNA.
