Powerco is evolving the way we operate and manage our electricity network as distributed energy resources (DER), distributed generation and network flexibility become an increasingly important part of the energy system.
Weâre looking for a DSO Operational Systems Engineer to join our NOC Network Systems team and help us turn this change into practical, operational capability.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of technology, engineering and network operations and wants to play a key role in shaping how Powerco operates its network into the future.
Working closely with our DSO team and Network Operations Centre, youâll help develop the systems, processes and technology needed to support the changing electricity network.
Youâll be involved in things such as:
The energy industry is changing quickly, and Powerco is preparing for a future where customers, solar, batteries, distributed generation and flexible energy resources will play a much bigger role in how the network operates.
Youâll have the opportunity to help shape that future.
You wonât be tied to one particular technology or solution. Instead, youâll work across operational systems, SCADA, DER, DSO and network operations, identifying what we need to do differently and helping turn those ideas into solutions that work in the real world.
We're looking for someone who is technically capable, curious and enjoys solving problems.
You may come from a background in:
You don't need to be an expert in every area. More important is your ability to learn, connect the dots and turn complex requirements into practical outcomes.
Experience with DER, DSO, distributed generation, flexibility services, SCADA/RTU systems or automation would be highly regarded.
Why join us?
This is an opportunity to get in early and help shape an area that will become increasingly important to the electricity industry.
Youâll work alongside people across NOC, DSO, network operations, engineering and technology, giving you exposure to a broad range of challenges and opportunities.
Ready to help shape the future?
If you're someone who enjoys technology, solving problems and finding better ways of doing things - and you'd like to play a role in the future of New Zealand's electricity networks - we'd love to hear from you.
Apply now for the DSO Operational Systems Engineer role and help us build the operational capability Powerco needs for the future.
