MACROVAC seeks a dedicated Vacuum Truck Excavator Operator!

Reporting to the General Manager, you'll deliver high-quality excavation services and excellent customer service.

Saltire is currently seeking Vacuum Truck Excavator Operators on behalf of our sister company, MACROVAC.

MACROVAC was founded in response to on-the-ground insights and a growing demand for a smarter, more focused approach to dry vacuum excavation. Specialising in non-destructive digging solutions, MACROVAC helps projects stay on track by prioritising safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.

A Vac Truck Excavation Operator is responsible for operating vacuum trucks to perform excavation work, ensuring the safe and efficient removal of soil and debris from various sites. This role demands attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and proficiency in handling specialized equipment. The Dry Vac Truck Excavation Operator position is at the forefront of non-destructive excavation technology.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Operate Vacuum Trucks: Safely and efficiently operate vac trucks to perform excavation tasks. Performing pre- and post-operation checks and basic maintenance on equipment.

• Site Preparation: Prepare excavation sites by marking boundaries, setting up safety barriers, and inspecting for underground utilities.

• Excavation: Use vacuum trucks to remove soil, and debris from excavation sites while minimizing disruption to surrounding areas. Primarily works will involve excavating around high-risk services, such as gas, power, communications and water, non-destructive digging, in urban and suburban environments.

• Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and inspections on vac trucks and related equipment to ensure optimal functionality and safety.

• Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols, environmental regulations, and company policies during excavation operations.

• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of excavation activities, equipment usage, and maintenance reports.

• Communication: Collaborate with site supervisors, project managers, and other team members to ensure project milestones are met. Provide excellent customer service and maintaining professional communication with clients.

• Environment: civil construction work sites in and around existing live services

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience: Previous experience operating wet or dry vacuum trucks is preferred.

• Licensing: Valid commercial driver’s license

• Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues.

• Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including some manual lifting and working in various weather conditions.

• Safety Awareness: Thorough understanding of safety protocols and best practices in excavation and heavy equipment operation.

• Considerations:

1. HR Drivers Licence (open unrestricted)

2. HC/MC desirable due to the gross value mass (GVM) of the truck

3. Construction White Card

4. Excavator ticket

5. Applicants with final trim excavator operator combined with HR experience is preferred
