General Purpose
Under the direction of the Chief Clinical Services Officer, the Drug and Alcohol Counselor provides individual, group, and family counseling services, develops treatment plans, manages cases, and documents patient care in compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual, group, and family counseling for program participants
- Assess patient needs and develop multidisciplinary treatment plans
- Maintain accurate documentation including progress notes, discharge summaries, and bio/psycho/social assessments
- Provide case management and coordinate care with healthcare providers and community resources
- Conduct patient and family education, group sessions, and weekly educational presentations
- Participate in team meetings, patient reviews, and program development activities
- Assist with community outreach, education, and referral coordination
- Stay current with chemical dependency treatments, therapies, and best practices
- Maintain compliance with licensing, certifications, regulatory, and documentation requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Minimum one (1) year experience in chemical dependency or residential treatment preferred
- CADAC/NADAC certification preferred
- If in recovery, must have three (3) years of continuous sobriety
- Knowledge of 12-step recovery principles and chemical dependency counseling
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office)
- Strong writing, documentation, and communication skills
