We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Driver/Operator to join our kerb & footpath team in Dunedin. This role suits an experienced and professional class 4 driver who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in safe and efficient driving/plant operation, and wants to contribute to delivering essential local infrastructure.

As a Driver/Operator on the kerb and footpath contract you will drive a class 4/operate site plant, support excavation, and work closely with the site foreman and crew to ensure works are completed safely, on time and to specification.

What you’ll be doing
  • Transport materials and plant between sites as required, ensuring loads are secure and vehicle checks are completed prior to departure.

  • Operate plant and vehicles required for kerb, channel and footpath preparation and construction, including excavators, rollers, tip trucks and small loaders, in a safe and efficient manner.

  • Maintain accurate records of hours, plant usage and fuel consumption, complete required site documentation and communicate progress or issues to the foreman or project management.

  • Adhere to site health and safety procedures, attend toolbox talks, wear required personal protective equipment and contribute to a positive safety culture on site.

What you’ll bring
  • Proven experience operating civil construction plant and driving site vehicles in a construction environment, preferably on kerb, channel and footpath projects.

  • Current NZ driver licence (Class 4 or higher preferred) with WTR.

  • Good understanding of health and safety obligations on construction sites, including experience working near live carriageways and following traffic management plans.

  • Reliable, punctual and capable of working outdoors in varying weather conditions; physically able to assist with manual tasks as required.

  • Strong communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively with a small team and report effectively to the site foreman.
