Your new role

Southend‑on‑Sea City Council is looking for reliable, customer‑focused individuals to join our Integrated Equipment Service as a Driver / Equipment Fitter. This is a unique opportunity to start or develop a career in Adult Social Care, supporting local residents to live safely and independently in their own homes.

About the role

As part of our busy equipment service team, you will:

• Deliver and install essential equipment (e.g. beds, hoists, seating)
• Support people recently discharged from hospital or needing care support
• Work across the Southend area in homes and community settings
• Interact with service users, carers and professionals in a respectful and supportive way
• Ensure equipment is fitted safely and correctly
• This is a hands‑on, physical role where no two days are the same.

What you'll need to succeed

What we’re looking for

We are particularly keen to hear from people who are:

• Good communicators – friendly, respectful and able to put people at ease
• Practical and problem‑solving – confident using tools or working hands‑on
• Reliable and organised – able to manage their time and workload
• Team players – happy working as part of a supportive team
• Interested in helping others – motivated by making a difference

You must:

• Hold a full UK driving licence
• Be comfortable working in people’s homes
• Be willing to undertake training in equipment fitting and safe working
• No prior care experience? No problem
