SCOPE OF POSITION

Oversee the warehouse/storage area. As the Driver, pick up and deliver to and from local retailers, and maintain well-established relationships.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Organize, clean, and maintain all areas of the food storage/warehouse.
  • Organize, clean, and maintain all refrigeration/freezer units in the food.

  • Greet all donors in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Follow a designated dress code/ TSA Shirts will be provided. Always wear closed-toe and skid-proof footwear.
  • Work closely and oversee volunteers and court-ordered community service applicants who will from time to time assist in day-to-day duties.
  • Follow all Salvation Army safety and driving policies.
  • Perform other tasks as necessary or assigned or requested by your supervisor.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Must be a team player committed to the common purpose of assisting those in need.
  • Must be sensitive and act accordingly to program participants who may be dealing with multiple issues and stresses due to their current living situation.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
  • Must have a current Food Handlers Card
  • Must have a valid Washington State driver’s license.
  • Must be able to pass The Salvation Army‘s in house driving test and Motor vehicles Records check including being at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have an understanding of commercial cleaning products and procedures.
  • Knowledge and adaptation of FIFO (First In/First Out) practices.
  • Knowledge and adaptation of HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point).
  • Working knowledge of and ability to operate both a manual and power floor jack.
  • Knowledge of food safety and kitchen sanitation practices, including guidelines on operating and cleaning all refrigeration units.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in a working environment.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One year of work experience, preferably with materials handling and driving

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, reach overhead, kneel, and/or twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to grasp, push, and pull objects such as bins, drawers, and reach overhead.
  • Ability to carry and move food cartons.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a continuous basis, as needed.
  • Ability to understand written information.

Work Schedule / Location

This position is located at The Salvation Army Bremerton Corps in Bremerton, Washington. The schedule is determined by the Operations Manager based on department needs.

Health Insurance: Low bi-weekly premiums ($39.23) for employee only coverage, Kaiser HMO for those residing in a Kaiser service area, Anthem EPO/PPO is available for those residing outside of a Kaiser service area. Voluntary +1 and +family coverage at additional cost. Delta Dental DHMO and DPPO dental insurance offered starting at $2.31 bi-weekly cost. Employees are covered by an employer paid life insurance policy. Voluntary supplemental life, short-term and long-term disability plans are available.

Retirement Plans: Employer-funded Money Purchase Pension Plan (Defined Contribution Plan) 50% vested at 5 years eligible service time, employee funded voluntary 403(b) options

Parental Leave: Benefit will be one week (5 business days) of paid leave at the employee’s normal rate of pay for births, adoptions and foster placements.

Sick Leave: 12 days annually accruing from day one, eligible for use after 3 months’ service time.

Paid Vacation: 2 weeks annually accruing from day one, for non-exempt positions. 4 weeks annually accruing from day one, for exempt positions. Accrued vacation eligible for use after 6 months’ service time.

Paid Holidays: 13 designated holidays + 1 floating holiday per year
