Driver Trainer

Please note that the total weekly working hours for this role are 45 hours.

Your driving skills have never been in more demand. Now we need your help with the next generation. As you know, getting products of all shapes and sizes from warehouse to stores is the name of the game at Sainsbury’s. So, to help train other drivers, we’re looking for experienced C+E Drivers with a full CPC qualification card and inside knowledge of how we work.

Driver Trainer is a stable job in an organization that takes your skills seriously. After all, you won’t just be out and about representing our company. You’ll also be training others to do the same. As a great driver and trainer, it should go without saying you’ll enjoy the highest spec tech in your vehicle. And your health and safety - and that of your trainees - will be top of our priority list.

More about the Role

The key part of the role is…

  • Delivering quality training and instruction to colleagues.
  • Training colleagues in the skills required to carry out their duties in a safe manner and keeping them updated with current and ever-changing legislation.
  • Carrying out evaluation and essential ongoing training for applicants for driver positions/new/experienced colleagues.
  • Carrying out assessments and identifying training needs, for all drivers including agency drivers.
  • Maintain and review all driver training records, advising management of training deadlines.
  • Conduct all forms of H/S training, I.E manual handling, food safety, banksman etc.
  • Ensure H/S training with regards to store deliveries.
  • Complete store delivery risk assessments.
  • Conduct all forms of depot specific training.
  • Ensure health and safety training with regards to equipment used.
  • Attend appropriate departmental meetings as required.
  • Act as a legal representative when necessary.
  • Complete store deliveries/driver duties as and when required.   

More about you 

We would like to hear from you if... 

  • Holds a full UK driving licence
  • Must have had a C+E licence for a minimum of 5 years.
  • Prepared to work towards RTITB accreditation within first 3 months of being appointed
  • Full understanding of Drivers Hours Regulations and Working Time Directive
  • Understanding of Safe and Fuel-Efficient driving techniques
