We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Driver Safety and Compliance Specialist to oversee driver safety and compliance programs and auto loss claims reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in driver safety, DOT compliance, and vehicle claims handling along with excellent organizational and communication skills.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Driver Safety and Compliance
• Manage systems and programs to ensure all Singer Equipment Co. drivers have fully compliant Driver Qualification Files. Communicate with responsible parties to obtain or renew any missing or deficient driver qualification documents.
• Manage Continuous Motor Vehicle Record monitoring program and annual Driver MVR Review Process. Work with Human Resources as needed to address any driver disqualification or disciplinary issues.
• Work with Human Resources to review, revise, and implement DOT Drug and Alcohol testing programs for all drivers.
• Manage Telematics and forward facing/driver facing camera system. Utilize data collected from the system to educate and coach drivers and reduce the number of negative driving behaviors. Develop reporting mechanisms to monitor and report progress on reducing negative driving behaviors. Manage new vehicle installation and troubleshoot equipment issues.
• Develop and enforce policies to ensure driver compliance with Hours of Service (HOS) rules, electronic logging device (ELD) regulations, and other applicable regulations.
• Publish driver safety bulletins and training.
• Work with EHS and HR to implement driver safety training programs.
• Manger departmental budget for compliance activities and plan for future compliance expenses.
• Conduct periodic driver ride-a longs to understand driver challenges and provide feedback to drivers and management.
• Complete MCS-150 updates for all Singer DOT numbers.
• Monitor CSA scores and roadside inspection results for issues and trends and share learnings across the network.
• Provide data-driven recommendations and industry best practices to improve the efficiency and safety of the fleet and drivers.
• Develop and coordinate manager/supervisor DOT/FMCSA awareness training for all managers/supervisors overseeing CMV Drivers.
• Develop, implement, and manage programs to manage employees driving passenger vehicles (company owned, personal, or rental) on company business.
Vehicle Auto Claims Management:
• Manage and process auto insurance claims for the fleet, including reporting accidents and submitting necessary documentation.
• Coordinate with insurance providers, legal teams, and adjusters to resolve claims quickly and effectively.
• Conduct investigations into vehicle accidents, ensuring accurate reporting and compliance with company policies. Assist locations in determining accident type (preventable or non-preventable) and provide guidance is potential disciplinary action for drivers.
• Monitor claim trends to identify areas for improvement in fleet safety and incident reduction.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Safety, Logistics, or related field preferred. Applicable industry experience my be substituted for a degree.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in driver safety/compliance, vehicle claims handling, or a related field.
• In-depth knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance requirements.
• Experience in managing auto claims, including coordination with insurance companies.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Preferred Skills:
• Experience with fleet telematics and/or DQ file management software preferred.
Work Environment:
• This position is hybrid (both office based and remote) and may require occasional travel to meet with employees, inspect locations, and attend safety and compliance audits or conferences.
