Te kōwhiringa | The Opportunity 

This role is critical to the successful delivery of civil infrastructure projects, as grading accuracy directly impacts pavement performance, drainage outcomes, and overall project quality. Operators with advanced grading capability are essential to achieving these outcomes.

The Driver Operator (Truck Driver) is responsible for ensuring all plant is presented, serviced, maintained, and operated in a safe, professional, and efficient manner, in compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations, and company policies, while achieving agreed productivity and quality targets.

This role requires a high level of operator skill and judgement, particularly in final trim and finishing works where precision directly affects downstream construction quality.

This is a multi-skilled position that extends beyond standard truck driving duties, requiring the flexibility to operate both heavy vehicles and specialist civil plant. While the primary function is truck driving, the role frequently involves working independently in remote or varied locations and undertaking a broad range of operational tasks.

Proven Work Experience in Technical Capabilities required for the role:

• Being competent in driving heavy duty trucks.
• Demonstrate high-level proficiency in grader operation, including trimming to tight tolerances

• Read and interpret civil drawings, levels, and set-out information

• Proven experience as a Grader Operator within heavy civil or infrastructure projects
• Demonstrated ability to achieve tight tolerances and final trim standards
• Experience with machine control systems (GPS) preferred
• Strong understanding of earthworks, pavement construction, and drainage interfaces

Educations & Qualifications:

• Class 5 driver licence and WTR (Wheels, Tracks, and Rollers) endorsements are required

  AND either one of the below:

• At least 1 year or more of relevant work experience in at least 4 competencies as described in technical capabilities for the role OR

• A qualification at level 4 or higher on the New Zealand Qualifications and Credentials Framework (NZQCF) (Work experience can replace qualification).
