Job Description

Driver Operations Country Manager

Department: Expansion team

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: Senegal

Description

We are looking for a strong, hands-on DOPS Country Manager to own and develop Driver Operations in Senegal.

This is a country-level role with end-to-end responsibility for driver supply and marketplace performance. The person will define the local DOPS strategy, identify marketplace issues, build solutions, and ensure strong execution together with local field teams and HQ.

We are looking for someone with strong ride-hailing marketplace experience who can combine data-driven decision-making with hands-on field execution.

Experience at a ride-hailing company in Senegal is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own overall country Driver Operations and be accountable for marketplace performance.
  • Define and execute operational strategy based on marketplace issues and business priorities.
  • Own key driver metrics: supply, reactivity / DR, active drivers, retention, utilization, activation, and other relevant marketplace KPIs.
  • Analyze performance, identify problems, build hypotheses, and independently propose and implement solutions.
  • Own pricing, incentives, driver recruitment, activation, and retention strategy from the DOPS side.
  • Regularly present performance, key problems, insights, and action plans to the HQ team.
  • Build and improve operational processes, not only execute existing ones.
  • Build and manage driver recruitment processes, including sourcing channels, onboarding, training, and activation.
  • Recruit, train, coordinate, and manage Driver Acquisition agents and other field teams.
  • Organize and manage offline acquisition activities.
  • Identify new channels and approaches to increase driver supply.
  • Work directly in the field with drivers and agents to understand operational issues and improve processes.
  • Execute operational research, competitor monitoring, field research, surveys, and driver interviews.
  • Collect insights from drivers and the market and translate them into actionable recommendations.
  • Organize driver surveys, calling campaigns, interviews, and simple customer development research.
  • Maintain communication with driver communities through Facebook, WhatsApp, Telegram, and other relevant channels.
  • Monitor competitors’ pricing, incentives, acquisition approaches, and driver value proposition.
  • Manage relationships with local agencies, suppliers, and operational partners.
  • Interact with GR, local authorities, and other external stakeholders when needed.
  • Coordinate with HQ functions and ensure local execution of cross-functional initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience in ride-hailing marketplace operations, preferably in Driver Operations, Driver Acquisition, Marketplace, or a similar function.
  • Previous experience managing Driver Operations or a significant part of the driver marketplace.
  • Strong understanding of the Senegal / Dakar ride-hailing market is highly preferred.
  • Experience at a ride-hailing platform would be a strong advantage.
  • Strong understanding of marketplace dynamics: supply, demand, pricing, incentives, driver behavior, utilization, and retention.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to turn metrics and field insights into operational decisions.
  • Experience building and managing driver acquisition channels and field teams.
  • Ability to independently identify problems, develop solutions, and drive execution end-to-end.
  • Strong ownership and ability to operate in a fast-changing environment with limited supervision.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Willingness to spend significant time in the field and communicate directly with drivers, agents, and partners.
