Job Summary

Clemens Food Group is seeking a Driver Manager – Market Haul to lead professional CDL drivers and support the safe, humane, and reliable transportation of live hogs from farms throughout the region to our Hatfield harvest facility.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone with Live Haul knowledge who understands transportation operations and knows how to build credibility with professional drivers. You will work closely with Dispatch, Farms, Harvest Operations, Fleet Maintenance, and other transportation leaders to ensure the operation has the people, equipment, and processes needed to execute the daily Market Haul plan safely and consistently.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop professional CDL drivers and trailer wash team members.
• Oversee daily Live Haul / Market Haul transportation execution, including staffing, equipment availability, and schedule performance.
• Build strong relationships with drivers and maintain a visible presence within the operation.
• Partner with Dispatch, Farms, Harvest Operations, Fleet Maintenance, and other teams to quickly resolve operational issues.
• Champion driver safety, animal welfare, DOT compliance, biosecurity, and standard operating procedures.
• Support trailer wash operations to ensure clean trailers are available and sanitation and biosecurity standards are consistently met.
• Monitor key performance indicators and use operational data to improve safety, service, equipment utilization, productivity, and cost.
• Address performance issues, staffing needs, and operational challenges in a timely and consistent manner.
• Identify opportunities to simplify work, improve reliability, and continuously strengthen the overall Market Haul operation.

Qualifications & Competencies

• Live Haul knowledge and experience with an understanding of livestock transportation, animal welfare, and related operational requirements.
• 3–5 years of experience in transportation, trucking, fleet operations, logistics, agriculture, food manufacturing, or a similar operational environment preferred.
• Prior experience leading professional CDL drivers, frontline employees, or operational teams strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of DOT requirements, transportation safety, and compliance.
• Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced, time-sensitive operation.
• Experience using operational metrics to identify trends and improve performance.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple departments.
• Ability to balance team member needs with operational requirements.
• Ability to remain effective in a transportation operation that functions outside traditional business hours.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and transportation-related technology preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent operational and leadership experience will also be considered.

The right leader will build trust with drivers, establish clear expectations, keep safety and animal welfare at the forefront, and help the team consistently execute the daily Market Haul plan.

Success will also include improving staffing reliability, equipment utilization, trailer availability, operational problem-solving, and overall performance while building strong partnerships across Transportation, Farms, Maintenance, and Operations.
