Summary:
The Driver I position is crucial for the operation of our mission, involving the collection of donations, transportation of gift-in-kind items, and occasionally transporting clients to meetings or appointments. As a driver, you will play a key role in supporting our operations and services, directly impacting our community outreach and support efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate a truck and van to collect donations from specified locations.
- Transport gift-in-kind items from donors to our facility, ensuring the careful handling and security of items.
- Occasionally transport clients to and from various meetings, appointments, and programs in a timely and safe manner.
- Maintain accurate records of pick-ups, deliveries, and vehicle maintenance.
- Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance.
- Plan routes and meet delivery schedules.
- Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking, break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with team members and donors to ensure a smooth operation.
- Support other mission activities as needed.

QualificationsKnowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Proven work experience as a truck or van driver.
- Ability to drive long hours and occasionally on weekends.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Good physical condition and strength to lift heavy items and load/unload cargo.
- Knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations.
- No recent moving or driving violations.
- Empathetic understanding of the needs of the homeless population is an advantage
