Job Description

Position: Driver/ Field Assistant

Contract: 2-year renewable contract Location: Freetown, Sierra Leone

The Driver/ Field Assistant will convey staff and partners to different locations within and outside the station for official activities, drive and maintain official vehicles efficiently as instructed by supervisor.

Closing Date:- 23 March 2026

DUTIES

  • Carry out driving duties as instructed by the Supervisor.
  • Assist Field supervisors with field activities including field plot establishment and data collection.
  • Drive vehicle within and outside duty station to transport personnel, materials and supplies including out of hours, weekends and or public holidays as required.
  • Record all vehicle logbooks which includes mileage, maintenance history and fuel consumption.
  • Report potential mechanical faults on vehicles as soon as they are discovered.
  • Perform routine vehicle maintenance checks and ensure that all vehicles are fueled when due.
  • Provide support to Technical Officers during field assignments.
  • Perform any other job-related task as may be assigned by the Supervisor.

Requirements

QUALIFICATION:

National Diploma in any related course with a minimum of two (2) years’ experience or O’ Level with a minimum of six (6) years’ experience performing similar role in a well-structured environment. Possession of valid Driver's license is required.

COMPETENCIES:

The ideal candidate must:

  • Have excellent communication skills in English and Creole (writing, reading, and speaking).
  • Be able to speak English and Creole fluently, with knowledge of driving across Sierra Leone.
  • Have good knowledge of defensive driving with excellent awareness of driving rules and regulations.
  • Have the ability to work under pressure.
  • Possess a valid driving license and national identification number/card.
  • Demonstrate initiative, high moral standards, integrity, a positive attitude, and strong team spirit.
