The Operator / Driver - Explosives delivers explosive materials to the relevant Orica (manufacturing plant, Orica customer service depot) or Customer Site (on site magazine), this may include operation, maintenance and upkeep of the delivery vehicle in a safe and environmentally conscious manner at all times and in line with approved standard and procedures.
Maintaining safe working practices to ensure no injury to self or others
• Ensure equipment and plant is in good order by regular inspection
• Carrying out housekeeping tasks as instructed by supervisor
• Promptly reporting all unsafe working conditions and accidents to Supervisor
• Ensuring minimum damage to the environment through waste minimization and control
• Wearing all PPE as required for specific tasks
• Ensuring all emergency equipment and First Aid kits are complete.
• Active participation in Safety Meetings, Toolbox Talks and in Mining Services safety program
Equipment operation and maintenance
• Product delivered to customers and Orica Depots to meet demand schedule
• Manufacturing plant and delivery vehicles/tankers are maintained according to schedule
• Accurate provision of delivery dockets to customers
• Perform QC testing on incoming raw materials and product being dispatched to customers
• Maintaining vehicles in clean and presentable condition
Material Requirements and Storage
• Ensure correct accreditation signage is displayed
• Ensure all raw materials are correctly labelled
Quality Control
• Ensure equipment is maintained to provide high levels of service and replace faulty parts as required or instructed
Administration
• Assist with stocktaking all materials and products as required
• Assist with recording details of receipts into and dispatches from the plant
