Job Description

As an Operator, you’ll be responsible for driving a range of vehicles, particularly front loaders equipped with the latest onboard technology to ensure safe and timely collections across Dunedin and surrounding areas. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Operate vehicles and equipment in accordance with training, instructions or operating procedures and company regulations.
  • Perform daily maintenance and safety checks on vehicle and/or equipment as and when required.
  • Operate computerized systems and other work related systems.
  • Perform loading and unloading duties and transport and disposal of varying waste materials, in accordance with company and client requirements.
  • Undertake servicing, delivery and processing of waste as required.

Qualifications

  • Valid New Zealand Class 2 or 4 driver license (mandatory)
  • Proven experience operating front-end loaders and heavy equipment in commercial or construction environments
  • Demonstrated knowledge of load management, securing techniques, and weight distribution
  • Strong understanding of occupational health and safety regulations and site safety protocols
  • Excellent spatial awareness and ability to operate equipment in confined or complex environments
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform routine equipment maintenance and inspections
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills to maintain accurate records and reports
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in dynamic job site environments
  • Preferred: Heavy equipment operation certifications or additional machinery qualifications
