OF DUTIES
Responsible for driving the ambulance to transport the sick or injured persons to hospital, or convalescents to destination using knowledge and skill in driving to avoid sudden motions detrimental to patients. Maintains the ambulance in good condition with scheduled inspections and checks. Possess the attitude to make the patient care the primary concern.
MAIN DUTIES RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Understands and carries out the duties and responsibilities in line with Vision and Mission Statements, Goals and Objectives that suit the scope of the hospital service.
2.Works shift duties or as assigned by Unit Manager according to Unit’s Operational Hours.
3.Informs Unit Manager when change occurs in circumstances which affect standards of care.
4.Attends and participates in unit meetings, dialogue sessions and hospital’s activities.
5.Drives all company vehicles with care and courtesy upon instructions/ authorization by the head of services
6.Attends to ambulance calls as required and to keep record of ambulance log book
7.Assists with lifting of patients and transfers of patients from A&E service to specific wards or hospital.
8.Assists nursing staff in handling restless, confused and aggressive patients. 9.Stands by for call duty during off duty to run errands such as getting blood and blood products from the blood bank.
10.Ensures First Aid box are well kept.
11.Fetches patient from home or accident site in an emergency or when instructed.
12.Responsible for the safety of the patient during travelling.
13.Inspects vehicle and check gas, oil and water before departure.
14.Ensures that the wheel chairs and trolleys are available in front of the service to be used at all time.
15.Be a dispatching personnel whenever is needed.
16.Replace supplies and disposable items on ambulances
17.Keeps vehicle clean and in an orderly condition and makes minor repairs and adjustments.
18.Checks oil pressure and level, gasoline, water in battery and radiator, and tire pressure to insure that these conditions are satisfactory for immediate and continued use of the vehicle.
19.Checks that there are sufficient oxygen cylinders for use in the unit and record accordingly
20.Provides assistance to clients who present themselves at the A&E services 21.Be courteous and caring during receiving and helping patient into the ambulance from the house to the hospital or vice versa
