Job Summary:

Responsible for the efficient transportation including pick–up and delivery of product as well as interoffice mail to and from the Meyer Corporation Facilities.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Transportation of product and mail as scheduled in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Inspect all vehicles daily for safety and overall operation as required by Meyer Corporation, Federal, and State transportation mandates.
  • Safely load and unload products as necessary, verifying counts, and condition including damage-free delivery, using material handling equipment.
  • Maintain the safe operation of assigned equipment at all times
  • Perform a thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspection of any equipment operated in accordance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and Company Policy.
  • Service truck with fuel, wiper blades, oil, and other basic elements as outlined by company
  • Each day move empty or full containers / trailers to various doors as requested by the Receiving and/or Traffic Departments.
  • Responsible for successfully completing all company required and federally mandated training and assist in training of all new drivers on Meyer Corporation commercial equipment as well as smaller auxiliary equipment.
  • During slow times assist other departments with material handling needs.
  • Fully understand all operations of the RF Scanners.
  • Assist with picking and load/unload merchandise.
  • Locate, pick, unload, and label merchandise. Be proficient on Material Handling Equipment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum 25 years of age.
  • Must possess a valid California driver’s license and class “A” endorsement.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak in the English language to meet DOT requirements.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a DOT Drug Screen, a company regulated road skills test, a proper pre-trip inspection in accordance with FMCSR and Company Policy, a DOT physical and a Physical Abilities Test (PAT).
  • Requires 1 year of forklift operation experience. Forklift certification preferred.
  • Computer knowledge is a plus.
  • Must possess organizational skills and be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English in both verbal and written formats.
  • Must be able to interface with other Meyer employees.
  • Must possess mental and physical capabilities necessary to perform the job duties.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Work is performed primarily at the warehouse. Lighting is artificial. Equipment used includes standard office equipment i.e. computer and telephone; and standard safety equipment I.e. forklift and scooter; and automated sortation system. Individual will have some exposure to dust, noise, heat, cold and fumes. Physical demands include walking, standing, bending over, crouching, balancing, pushing, and pulling, repetitive use of both hands, grasping, lifting up to 50 lbs., driving cars, trucks, forklifts and other equipment, and being around other work equipment and machinery; and occasionally sitting, reaching overhead, and kneeling. Distribution Center Hours are primarily seven days per week / 24 hours per day with various shifts and some overtime required. Position requires contact with some Meyer employees.

$32.00 per hour
