The requirements

  • A Valid PSV certificate and Driver's License (Class B, C, E)
  • Be at least 25 years of age.
  • Health assessment and physical examinations, including vision and hearing assessments
  • Updated in First Aid and Kenya Traffic Laws.
  • At least 3 years’ experience driving a bus.
  • Strong technical knowledge of vehicle operation, basic mechanics, and routine maintenance checks.
  • Skilled in defensive driving techniques and maintaining safe distances in various traffic and weather conditions.
  • Proficient in adhering to all traffic laws and federal/local transportation regulations (e.g., hours of service, load limits).
  • Thorough understanding of efficient route planning to minimize time and fuel consumption.
  • Strong communication and customer service abilities when interacting with clients, dispatch, or regulatory officials.
  • Integrity, reliability, and accountability in handling cargo security and maintaining delivery schedules.

The position

The Aga Khan Academy Mombasa is an International Baccalaureate World School. It is the first in the network of Aga Khan Academies established by His Highness the Aga Khan. The Academy features state-of-the-art facilities, a multicultural student body, and an experienced team of educators and staff.

We provide students with education of the highest standard in order to prepare them for lives characterised by leadership and service. Admission to the Academy is means-blind and is based on merit. We consider all eligible students regardless of socio-economic status.

We are seeking for a quailified and expirienced driver to join the transport department at the Academy. The driver will be in charge of facilitating transport requirements to staff, students and visitors of the Aga Khan Academy Mombasa in a safe and courteous manner.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILICTIES:

  • Take overall responsibility for the bus assigned.
  • Ensure the bus is chaperoned to leave the Academy.
  • Ensure health, safety, and welfare of each passenger.
  • Pick up and drop off students, staff, and visitors at the scheduled stops
  • Deliver and collect goods, letters, documents, and equipment as required by Academy management
  • Keep vehicles' exteriors and interiors clean,
  • Check the condition of the vehicle's tires, brakes, windshield wipers, lights, oil, fuel, water, and safety equipment, etc., as per the Daily Vehicle Check List.
  • Report any vehicle malfunctions or needed repairs
  • Update and maintain mileage in the vehicle logbook.
  • Any other reasonable and relevant duties assigned by the line manager.
