Job Description

Location: Stoneham, MA and surrounding areas

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7am-9am and 2pm-4pm

Target Pay: $22 hourly

Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on multiple factors, including but not limited to, the individual's experience, education, and internal equity.

At Northeast Arc, our mission is to help people with disabilities become full participants in the community. The Driver plays a meaningful role in making that possible every day. In this part-time position, you will provide safe and timely transportation for individuals served from their homes to day programs and/or other authorized locations. You will also assist with compiling documents related to Northeast Arc and department policies and DDS regulations. This role is part of our Community Employment Services Transportation Department and reports to the Director of Transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe and timely transportation for individuals served from their homes to day programs and/or other authorized locations
  • Assist with compiling documents related to Northeast Arc and department policies and DDS/MART regulations
  • Safely assist individuals served while entering, exiting, and moving around vehicles
  • Move individuals in wheelchairs in, out, and around vehicles, and operate the wheelchair lift
  • Perform general routine vehicle maintenance
  • Clear snow and ice from and around vehicles as needed
  • Safely operate various types of vehicles including minivans, SUVs, 15-passenger and wheelchair vans

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years of driving experience with an acceptable driving record; must be 19 years of age; experience supporting individuals with disabilities is a plus
  • Desire and ability to work with and support individuals with disabilities
  • Working knowledge of MA State and Federal Laws regarding safe driving; knowledge of Human Service Transportation and MART Regulations preferred
  • Ability to use smartphones, GPS/map software, PCs, and Microsoft Office programs preferred
  • Valid MA driver's license, 3 years of driving experience within the USA, and an acceptable driving record required
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to drive and sit while operating a vehicle for extended periods of time and enter and exit vehicles several times daily. Ability to bend and kneel to secure wheelchair tie-downs. Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Acceptable CORI, SORI, and fingerprint results required
  • Must successfully complete and pass all required background checks as a condition of employment.
