Driver

Ministry: St. Lucy Food Project Loaves & Fishes
Primary Office: Front Royal
Hours per Week: 40 non-exempt
Staff Supervisor: Pantry Manager
No Telework
Starting Hourly rate: $20.12

In alignment with all Ministry guidelines collect transport and distribute food to designated distribution locations in support of local food rescue program. Maintain the Ministry’s vehicle fleet. Conduct partner grocery and retail stores food pickup. Provide overall maintenance and support in the pantry facility and assist with client distributions as needed.

Position Responsibilities:
• Conduct mobile food distributions and bulk deliveries. Comply with Ministry documentation and safety standards.
• Conduct food rescue operations to meet Ministry objectives.
• Drive Ministry vehicles per standards. Serve as backup driver as needed.
• Per Ministry standards, maintain and operate machinery and equipment.
• Manage vehicle fleet records per Ministry guidelines. Conduct safety checks as required.
• Participate in all tasks related to food distribution to include loading, packing, storing, and sorting.
• Responsible for Pantry cleanliness including janitorial and recycling tasks.

Other Duties:
• Support client intake, registration and shopping as needed. Document client information per Ministry standards.
• Attend staff meetings required.
• In alignment with Office of Volunteers’ standards, supervise and train volunteers as needed. Ensure volunteer compliance with Ministry safety standards.
• Willing to uphold Catholic social teaching in the workplace.
• Other job-related duties as needed.

Qualifications & Skills:
• Ability to learn new tasks and procedures, comply with processes, complete tasks independently, make timely decisions in the context of a workflow.
• Fluent with Microsoft office and other relevant software.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
• Ability to satisfy OSHA requirements for equipment such as pallet jacks.
• Must possess a valid US driver’s license, have a good driving record (including 3+ positive points on the VA Motor Vehicle Record), and have at least three years of US driving experience.

Education and Experience:
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with customer service.
• Experience with loading and unloading trucks, securing loads and lifting heavy items safely.
• Experience working in and securing a warehouse environment.
• Experience with food handling and food safety requirements
• Food Safety and CPR/AED Training provided during work hours.

Physical Demands:
• The employee is required to lift up to 60 pounds from a standing position. Must also be able to use such items as hand trucks, dollies, carts, pallet jacks and/or a forklift.
• Must be able to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to use a computer keyboard and handle heavy boxes and pallets of food; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Required to stoop, kneel or crouch and climb a ladder.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
