The Drill Truck Operator is responsible to safely operate portable rotary drilling rig to drill shallow boreholes to obtain samples of earth formations to locate the best possible source of aggregate/gravel.

This is a seasonal position that generally requires travel through Northern Minnesota and North Dakota with other work locations as assigned.

DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES (summary of components that make up the job)

  1. Safely operate and maintain a drill truck, including daily inspections, fueling, lubricating, and cleaning
  2. Position truck‑mounted derrick at drilling sites and perform drilling operations
  3. Collect soil and core samples; perform soil testing and record borehole depths and data
  4. Deliver aggregate samples to laboratories and verify test results
  5. Communicate test results to landowners and obtain signed pit agreements
  6. Meet with landowners and maintain professional, positive customer relationships
  7. Use company software to collect drilling data and develop drilling logs and maps
  8. Identify and troubleshoot equipment, material quality, and operational issues
  9. Communicate production or field issues with coworkers and supervisors
  10. Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DNR, and company safety and environmental requirements
  11. Perform other related duties as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (minimum educational, experience, or other relevant job requirements)

A successful Drill Truck Operator for Knife River Materials will have:

  1. GED or high school diploma or equivalent
  2. Previous Drill Truck Operator experience, or related experience (preferred)
  3. Equipment maintenance & operation experience
  4. Ability to provide and maintain proper licensure, medical card and acceptable driving record (must obtain CDL within 6 months)

COMPENSATION:

Estimated Wage: $27.00 to $30.00 Per Hour-depending on work location, project, work experience and education
