Rolleston Open Cut is a 16Mtpa thermal coal mine located in the southern Bowen Basin in Central Queensland. With a long life of mine and low operating costs, the mine has a bright outlook. Since 2005, we have grown to become one of the largest surface mines in Australia, whilst continuing to foster a culture underpinned by safety, achievement, flexibility and teamwork to improve the skills of each and every person on the mine site every day. About the Role

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Drill and Blast Engineer to join our dynamic Technical Services team. Reporting to the Short-Term Planning Superintendent, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing drill patterns, loading designs and blast tie-in designs.

  • Design and optimise blasts, incorporating learnings from previous performance while ensuring compliance with site standards, procedures and the SHMS.

  • Liaise with Survey and Operations to ensure drill preparation standards are upheld, documentation and approvals are completed prior to issuing drill patterns.

  • Work with Planning Engineers to optimise mine plans and support the delivery of short, medium and long-term planning outcomes.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and blast optimisation trials.

  • Coach and mentor Mining Engineers, fostering technical capability within the team.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering.

  • Demonstrated experience in a Drill and Blast Engineering or similar mining engineering role.

  • Proficiency in Vulcan and BlastLogic software.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise competing deadlines.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and operational teams.

  • The ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively in a fast-paced mining environment.
