Collinsville Open Cut is located approximately 160km from Airlie Beach in Queensland, a town known as the gateway to the Whitsunday Islands and the Great Barrier Reef. Producing both metallurgical and thermal coal for the export market, the surface mine has a long life and is transitioning from a dragline strip to a truck and shovel terrace operation.
Collinsville provides unique challenges that can advance your current skill set to the next level. In this role you will gain exposure to drill and blast in reactive ground, temperate logging activities, intrusion blasting in coal and through-seam blasting.
Reporting to the Mine Planning Superintendent, you will be responsible for creation of Drill & Blast designs and schedules for operations. Actively working across the entire mine site, you will enjoy the holistic flexibility that stems from planning and designing all Drill & Blast aspects of this open cut operation. This role provides the successful applicant an opportunity to form close relationships with the Drill & Blast and Truck & Shovel Production teams, working to execute these plans.
About You:
Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Mining/Civil or related field)
Proficient with Mine design and Blasting packages (such as Vulcan and BlastLogic)
Minimum of two year’s relevant experience
Ability to effectively communicate across various levels of an organisation
Self-motivated and forward-thinking leader
Committed to fostering a culture driven by safety and continuous improvement
