
Assistant Professor Faculty Fellow in Theatre Studies
The Department of Drama at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts invites applications for an Assistant Professor Faculty Fellow, to begin in September 2027. This is a one-year teaching and postdoctoral position with a course load of four courses per year. Renewal is possible for two subsequent years.
The Department of Drama combines rigorous professional training with an expansive theatre studies curriculum that includes theatre history, dramatic literature, and performance theory. The curriculum also includes Honors Seminars, and minors in Applied Theatre and Dramaturgy.
Responsibilities: The Fellow will teach one introductory, writing-intensive theatre studies course and three advanced undergraduate courses each year, and will serve on committees.
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $85,000 - $105,000. This represents base pay only (for 9 months) and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
We seek candidates with a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching who completed the Ph.D. no earlier than 2022 and have it in hand at the time of appointment. We welcome candidates working across a range of areas in theatre and performance studies, and we are particularly interested in scholars whose research and teaching engage digital theatre and performance, emerging technologies, artificial intelligence, or the relationship between technology and performance.
