The Opportunity
Moonee Valley City Council is seeking a skilled and motivated Drainage Engineer to join our Engineering and Capital Works Delivery team. In this role, you will support the delivery and maintenance of Council’s stormwater drainage assets through the management of customer enquiries, undertaking site investigations, and contributing to the development of drainage capital works programs. Working under the guidance of the Senior Drainage Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering innovative and practical stormwater drainage solutions that align with Council policies, standards, and community expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Skills & Experience
You will have a tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering (recognised by Engineers Australia) and relevant experience in civil or drainage engineering, including exposure to stormwater drainage design and drafting. You will bring sound knowledge of engineering standards, drainage practices, and construction methods, along with the ability to interpret civil drawings and undertake basic drainage calculations. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, enabling you to effectively engage with internal stakeholders, contractors, and the community while delivering high-quality customer service. You will demonstrate strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work both independently and as part of a collaborative team. A current Victorian Driver’s Licence and Construction White Card are required, and a willingness to work towards Registered Professional Engineer status in line with legislative requirements will be highly regarded.
