Job Description

Title: Drafting and Release Manager

Location: PrimeFab, Greater Toronto Area

Company: Triumph Group of Companies

Role Overview

The Drafting and Release Manager is the bridge between PrimeFab's drafting department and the manufacturing floor. You take technical drawings and specifications from drafting and translate them into instructions the shop floor can act on without confusion. That means reading and interpreting drawings closely, catching discrepancies before they become production problems, and explaining changes in plain language to the people building the product. You work closely with drafters, production supervisors, and shop floor leads, keeping everyone aligned on what is being released and when. Good work in this role means fewer questions on the floor, fewer rework orders, and a smoother handoff every time a drawing moves from design into production.

What We Offer

  • Salary: $110,000 to $130,000 (commensurate with experience)
  • Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision
  • Three weeks vacation to start
  • A stable, growing company with work across multiple construction and infrastructure sectors
  • Direct exposure to both drafting and manufacturing leadership
  • Professional development support and room to grow within the organization
  • A hands-on role where your work is visible on the shop floor every day

What You Bring to the Table

Technical Skills

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in drafting, drawing review, or a technical liaison role within a manufacturing or construction environment
  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering and shop drawings, specifications, and bills of material
  • Working knowledge of CAD software (AutoCAD or similar) sufficient to review and mark up drawings
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and how drawing specifications translate into shop floor instructions
  • Experience managing document control or drawing release processes, including revisions and version tracking

Attributes

  • You can take a complex technical drawing and explain it in plain language that makes sense to someone on the shop floor
  • You communicate clearly and directly, comfortable moving between drafters, engineers, and production staff
  • You catch inconsistencies and ask the right questions before a drawing gets released, not after
  • You stay organized and keep track of multiple drawings and revisions without losing the thread
  • You take ownership of the drafting to manufacturing handoff and follow through until the job is done right

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Review drafting packages and shop drawings for accuracy, completeness, and manufacturability before release to production
  • Translate technical drawing details and specifications into clear, practical instructions for the manufacturing floor
  • Act as the main point of contact between the drafting department and production teams, resolving questions and discrepancies as they come up
  • Coordinate the release of approved drawings and documentation to the shop floor, tracking revisions and version control
  • Flag design or drawing issues that could affect manufacturability, cost, or schedule, and route them back to drafting for correction
  • Attend production meetings to communicate upcoming releases and address drawing-related questions from shop floor supervisors
  • Maintain
  • accurate records of drawing revisions, approvals, and release history
  • Support drafters in understanding shop floor constraints and feedback so future drawing packages need fewer corrections
  • Work with quality and production teams to investigate and resolve issues that trace back to drawing errors or misinterpretation
  • Identify recurring communication gaps between drafting and manufacturing and recommend process improvements
