Job Description

The Drafter IV shall provide miscellaneous drafting services while providing complete drafting services in support of the FAALC. This shall include operation and maintenance of the drafting file system, reproduction of drawings, and preparation of engineering drawings, electronic artwork and electronic media, including disks, in accordance with FAA-STD-002G. Supports FAA

  • Provides support of the FAA CAEG drawing systems or any electronic drawing system used by the FAA to include, but not limited to the loading, storage, copying, transfer and indexing of all FAA engineering drawings including those available only on hard copy.
  • Provides support to Contractor technical library services such as the reconstruction of the library's technical instruction manuals when copies are requested.
  • Provides support to Contractor engineering services.
  • Provide support and data as requested for administrative purposes and in support of the Quality Management System.
  • Responsible for follow-ups to ongoing or completed work.
  • Prepares or revise part fabrication drawings for use either on the FAALC shops automatic fabrication machinery or for fabrication by hand. Assist the FAALC shops in their drafting efforts.
  • Reviews drawing packages and indexes for completeness in accordance with FAA-STD-002G.
  • Handles automatic test equipment work including preparation of schematics using Government supplied or designated software-drawing programs such as Schema.
  • Ensures routine work is completed timely.
  • Conduct tours of the drafting area.

Education

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required. An associate degree in computer-aided drafting (CADICAM) is highly desired

Experience

  • A minimum five (5) years engineering drafting experience is required
  • At least one-year experience in using an automated drafting system utilizing CAD software is required

License, Cert or Registration

  • Current drivers’ license
  • Proof of U.S. citizenship
  • The ability to obtain security clearance enabling access to various Government facilities

Special knowledge, skills, & abilities

  • Must possess an excellent understanding of technical issues, ability to communicate verbally and in written form effectively, and the ability to work within U.S. Government contractual realm.
  • This position requires the ability to communicate effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Excellent telephone skills and knowledge of troubleshooting using vendors.
  • Success managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Adaptable to changing requirements and tasks.
  • Successfully perform basic mathematical functions as required in a business and/or engineering setting.
  • Demonstrate and apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal, or diagram form.
  • Possess problem solving and analytical skills, and the capability to prioritize daily work schedule in keeping with productivity standards.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual will have knowledge of the Microsoft development suite, and the Microsoft Office suite of software and knowledgeable of Web and Network architectures.
  • Produce CAD drawing packages and sheets for site maintenance and upgrade plans, using engineers’ specifications.
  • Produce CAD drawing packages and sheets for various mechanical equipment repairs or upgrades, using engineers’ specifications.
  • Produce CAD drawing packages and sheets of various parts and equipment related to aircraft repair/overhaul and/or
  • Produce CAD drawing packages and sheets of various parts and equipment related to RADAR system repair/overhaul
