Job Description

Prepare simple, clear, complete, and accurate steel joist and steel deck layout plans, sections, and bills
of material from contract documents in accordance with the customer’s requirements and industry
practices while consistent with our corporate mission, values and department objectives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Examine documents such as contract drawings, specifications, and change orders to verify
completeness and accuracy of data according to the designer’s drawings.
• Prepare layout drawings for submission to the customer for written approval.
• Generate bills of materials for CSC products based on layout drawings and including loading and
design requirements.
• Check the accuracy and completeness of layout drawings and bills of materials generated by self
as well as others.
• Issue final field use construction documents for use by the customer.
• Coordinate with the steel erection drawings as required.
• Maintain job files in appropriate computerized file directory for access by other departments.
• Notify Project Management of any change in scope due to revised drawings or customer requests
and post changes to computerized or manual control records.
• Confer with document originators to resolve discrepancies and update CSC submittals accordingly.
• Provide customer support through the erection process for questions that may arise.
• Utilize computer associated drafting (AutoCAD) equipment and software.
• Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in an effective manner
with customers, coworkers, and supervisors.
• Performs other job duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Regular and reliable attendance.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS FOR Drafter II:

Associate degree in Drafting or equivalent from two-year college or technical school. 2 years of drafting experience and high school diploma or equivalent may substitute for education.
• Minimum of 2 years of related steel experience required.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret drawings, specifications, and technical procedures.
• Clear understanding of all steel designations on contract drawings.
• Ability to detail a medium difficulty project without constant supervision.
• Capacity to function as a checker for both easy and medium difficulty work.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate with both
internal and external customers.
• PC skills to include the following software: AutoCAD and Microsoft Suite of Products. Revit or
BlueBeam skills a plus.

REQUIREMENTS FOR Drafter III:

• Minimum of 8 years of related steel experience.
• Ability to detail complex projects without constant supervision.
• Capacity to consistently function as a checker for any type of project regardless of complexity.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate with both
internal and external customers.
• PC skills to include the following software: AutoCAD and Microsoft Suite of Products. Revit or
BlueBeam skills a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Frequent communication with others to exchange information.
• Frequent repetition of motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
• Frequent moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
• Occasional adjusting or moving objects up to 20 pounds in all directions.
• Constantly remaining in a stationary position, often sitting or standing for prolonged periods.
• Constant use of computer for prolonged periods.
• Constantly thinking and processing information.
• Constantly maintaining concentration and focus on tasks.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• General office environment.
• May require occasional exposure to production area with airborne particles, loud noises, and
extreme heat and cold. Personal protection equipment is required when entering manufacturing
plant.

Compensation is based on experience and skill set. Candidates may be offered a Job Title II or III role, depending on experience and qualifications.

This is a fully remote position; however, candidates must reside and be authorized to work in the United States. Please note, CSC is not able to support remote work from locations outside the U.S. or mobile or RV-based arrangements. Employees are required to work from a fixed, primary residence within the United States.

Anticipated Pay Range


62k - 90k dependent on level and experience

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on the job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. The range may vary by location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
